Dofus happens around 1000 years before Wakfu. Inbetween the two eras someone called Ogrest got all the 12 powerful dragon eggs (Dofus) and achieved the power of a God. Unfortunately, something happened with his lover (a doll) and he started crying and crying so much he drowned the world. Gods lost a lot of power, Steamers stopped believing in their god, etc. etc. So the thing is geography and the world in general changed quite a bit.

The Dofus series doesn't spoil anything about Wakfu, although the protagonist is a character who appeares in the Wakfu series. Wakfu should be watched first since that'd be the chronological order, plus the Dofus series made more with kids in mind (although not the movie), so you'd probably only really enjoy if you're already interested in the World of Twelve.
