OK, so Morbi says we'll meet magic-users in the future. But shouldn't one of the backbones of his setting be more established, considering we're on Poppy 6, with hundreds of updates by this point? As far as world-building goes, we're not really getting the sort of picture the average resident would have.
I really feel like Morbi is skirting the issue, and would rather just make as many characters as he can non-magical, or use lucky-stars. I think we can all recognize by this point, that Morbi isn't a very strong storyteller.

the dialogue in this comic is 100% character delivered, there is no extended exposition from an all knowing narrator. as such character will only exposit on things that are relevant at the time, and as all character are adults mostly well vesred in their setting and living their lives it would be ham handed and out of chraacter to just haven them rattling off random facts of life to each other for no reason. hell the reason we learn about lucky stars is because Mary is a no nothing when it comes to magic.

I say New York because NY has a history of being worse than Detroit, but at the same time has been a fairly nice place with a bad reputation that's not fully deserved.

He wants Petunia to train Poppy to be a better fighter so she can defend her and possibly Kit from whoever tries to harm them, specifically the Specter of Fate.
We confirmed that Petunia is a master martial artist. She isn't proud of this for some reason.
We know that Poppy and Kit are gonna be dating and possibly get married in the future.
This was the "setting up" chapter. We have at least 3 chapters worth of material set up and ready to to go. It was a necessary chapter, and I like what we got.
It did drag on pretty long, though that's probably due to the hiatus in the middle of the chapter. We would of be well into Poppy 7 if we didn't have that to deal with.
