Why do you guys feel that just because a character in a story has an opinion that it has to be right? Dave tells Rose that people don't have arcs to calm her down, despite the fact that he himself is a character in a story with an arc.
As for the guardians, Dave feels a certain way about Bro and his upbringing, and Rose feels another. Nothing is stopping you from coming to a different conclusion about their parents than they did. I started reading when the omegapause started, it took me 2 months to catch up and then i learned about that it was near the end, i never cared about arcs, development or nothing really, i enjoued homestuck because it became an important part of me, the ending in my opinion maybe was a little lazy, but i enjoyed every last bit of it.
I still don't care about the arcks or the void aroubd some plots points, i even don't care about the epiloge or HS 2.0.
