I was not unamused by the general comic tone taken with Fifty Sue, but that was in a context where 1) it was Giffen so you knew you were in for mean comedy 2) bad future, nothing would stick

Weird how they'd give this book 90s nostalgia art but then assign a writer who triggers all the >not muhs. Choose an audience to pander to and stick with it, this route ends up making everybody mad.

Oh look, another shitty ongoing with a writer who just does whatever the fuck he wants with little regard to previous character history or motivation and lazy, amateurish and ugly art. The type of high value entertainment one can expect from Marvel in 2016.
>>
>>82472849
Here's your way of telling whether or not this is a good book. Look at the book and ask yourself this question:

>Is it a Marvel comic being published in 2016?

If so, file it away as being shit and move on.

Also, even if this wasn't already obvious, doing shock-value finales at this moment and era has kinda lost its charm.
>>
>>82473418
The beginning of the New 52 was linewide 90s. This is one book. Well, two, counting X-Men 92, but the sales reception to that was really good so of course they have to capitalize on it.

>>82473561
The art in X-men '92 is worlds better than this shit.

>>82473632
Well we know who these people are now so they couldn't exactly do that.

>>82473720
The art, designs, Wildstorm characters, and cybernetic/monstrous villains of the New 52 were extremely 90s.
>>
>>82472293
So it's basically Thunderbolts vs the NSA
>>
>>82473162
>>82473410
I'd say Songbird's got an interesting and unique role in New Avengers right now and I'd like to see where it goes

But the cast is so bloated and they just keep expanding it, Max Brashear and Toni Ho basically get as much development as most of the team

You seem to think that Kobik has reach the stage of being able to have critical thought.

She is unable to distinguish good from bad, besides, Karla defined the rule of the game and Kobik just wants to play.
>>
>>82475459
Oh, I guess he didn't die, but Bucky definitely has his job.

Yes but even if she does come back the fact that we start the series by killing her is not a good sign.

That was the stupidest part of that incredibly pointless and stupid event.

Why? That time hopping run was pretty damn fun, with Hyde being a sauve English gentlemen, Ghost being more creepy when he is being helpful, Luke Cage as Judge Dredd, Satana honking both Moonstones moonstones and Namor's Imperius Rex, Boomerang robbing himself blind, Swamp Thing talking swag, and Troll being Troll.
>>
>>82475476
captain america is a solo act.
yes steve rogers is also a agood leader, but he's not him.
And anyway the problem is how easily they're following him.
Even zemo didn't have their full respect, and they followed him because he had those crazy plans that were better than anything they could think of.
clint had to work hard to gain their resepct and a great part of it was due to him being able to keep them out of prison and show them how to be heroes, at the time when they wanted to actually try and be heroes.
why the fuck are they following this guy now?
and don't point to karla acting like the most cliched thug who thinks that the strongest should be the leader, because that's the worst thing of the whole issue

the worst part about the Karla thing is that I had hope for a short moment here >>82472413 before her characterization fell completely apart

I love Atlas, but he should never, ever be written as the brains of an operation--he's the follower who, if swayed by the right leader, will be the backbone of the team.

If you accept the "too much of a sociopath to be a hero, but too intelligent to be a supervillain" interpretation, Parker does a good job.

it was quite correct, too.

Mostly, she needs a moral compass. She mellowed out a lot from the early T-Bolts days.

he's changed back.
but yeah, he should have brown hair
>>
>>82476496

>>
>>82476708
she's mostly amoral. If she's with good people she'll enjoy being good and doing good actions, as long as she also gets some recognition and respect. If she hangs with bad people she can be a total monster. She doesn't have any interest in harming or hurting people, although she doesn't have any compuntion against it.
but that's not what's wrong here. however you place her on a moral scale, one thing that's been consistend in all the thunderbolts runs is that she prefer working with her mind than with her muscles. She manipulates people, not fights them unless she has no other choice.
how the fuck do you fail that bad?
Not even bendis got that wrong. Sure he made her manipulate people by having sex with them and act like a bratty teenager, but at least he still recognized that she manipulates people.

She does have a mean streak, though, and sometimes she just likes to dirty her hands as cathartic...

but unless it's a specific psychological gambit she's playing on Bucky because it can only work that way, I do agree it's bullshit.

She never wanted leadership.

Alias, Dark Avengers, Powers and the first few arcs of New Avengers ain't bad.

The Liefeld channeling, mostly. The 90s were a plague and should stay dead.
>>
>>82478832
Ellis Moonstone was not sleeping-with-Bullseye bad but she was still pretty bad. Ellis tends to abbreviate his female characters though so it didn't surprise me that she was one or two-note for the whole thing.
>>
>>82472309
Okay no one seems to have brought it up so I guess I'll have to.

Something's bothering me. Bucky goes down Karla's neck for what he assumes is a lethal takedown, I guess it's mostly to establish tension between them and her being a Maverick and all that, except Atlas is earlier illustrated in what looks like a scene of him smashing someone in half against a wall and another guy into the ground. Coupled with the fact Bucky STARTS the engagement letting off pointblank full auto rounds into a guy's face.
Not his limbs or torso HIS FACE.

Now they could be rubber bullets and that could be a relatively bullet resistance helmet but the fact remains he is DISCHARGING THEM AT A HIGH RATE OF FIRE REPEATEDLY INTO HIS SKULL. It looks like he took over a dozen directly to the forehead, he should not even be standing upright from that kind of trauma.
>>
>>82478865
Okay. That's not actually an argument. Hating Liefeld is a meme but saying "it's like Liefeld" is not elaborating on what you think is bad about the art. This isn't to say I'm a Liefeld fan, exactly, but he made artistic contributions to the medium which are too easily discarded.
>>
>>82478903
>Now they could be rubber bullets and that could be a relatively bullet resistance helmet but the fact remains he is DISCHARGING THEM AT A HIGH RATE OF FIRE REPEATEDLY INTO HIS SKULL. The dudes in a bullet proof power armor suit. SHIELD dudes in this armor have shown up in Marvel comics since forever. Bucky would obviously be familiar with this gear.
>>
>>82478903
The man in the robot suit has 50 HP.
Bucky's gun does 1d10+39 Damage.
Thus, the gun is Non-Lethal.

She didn't do anything objectionable, considering she just came out of a coma that was induced because she had a meltdown and attacked both the Avengers and the Thunderbolts, using enough force to remelt Zemo's face.
>>
>>82479142
And Kubik is MIA, which might be tied to Kosmos being in a mortal body and crazy in Thanos
>>
>>82479146
You know what, yeah, you're right, there is a ton of justified reasoning to throw on why that was a particularly low point for Karla. But she kept that characterization for all of Ellis' run and all of Bendis' Dark Avengers without any of the levity or nicer moments she had in the Thunderbolts proper under Busiek and FabNic. It took Parker to shake her up again. That left a bit of a sour taste in my mouth, because the other characters in that run weren't treated like that - except like, Venom?
>>
>>82479200
What about the Beyonder? Wasn't he/she a living Cosmic Cube too?

That's because there were no characters like Jolt or Hawkeye to make her happy. Songbird friendship's not happening.
