Neither. Hussie had a very clear and distinct idea for the ending, and when he realized he was writing a plot that went in a totally different direction, he retcon'd his story to fit the original ending.
I'd say Hussie fell in love with his original "THANKS FOR PLAYING" ending too much and instead of doing the usual author thing of just changing the ending to suit what you realize you've written, he decided he absolutely needed to change the plot to suit the new ending.

Well, recently. There was that one autist a few weeks back who sperged out about his hatred of Sollux, and the dude who tried to speed-read Homestuck in a few days and ended up hating it. The rest just blurs into a mess of shitposting, fanart, weird crap and Eridan for me.

I never understood this. Hussie's style doesn't seem to fit with Vriska properly, he feels (or felt, as in, before) entirely different in style and irony (when, again, he was ironic) from her and her concept. Why focus so much on her? Rachel? Some other motive?
I don't see it, to be quite honesto fampais. Please help my ignorance of gigantic proportions if I'm being dense so some obvious detail as per usual with this quest.

First misgivings at 3:04 with the troll romance stuff. Fortunately, it redeemed itself quite nicely and soon I was back to thinking the comic was GOAT.
At 5:46 I knew there were problems. The pacing was shot to hell (not that HS ever had great pacing) and I didn't like these new characters much.
7:57 was when the Trickster thing started and parts that were even debatably okay were over.
Then at 9:14 the retcon quest starts and any chance of redemption is lost.
