Finn himself is probably Force-Sensitive, but nowhere on the level of Rey and Luke. He'd probably use it more in line with the average person: breaking locks, confusing people, lifting shit, etc.
I think Finn as a Mando brings a new element of intrigue and uniqueness to the character. It differentiates him from literally every other main character in the films and makes him into someone capable of giving Rey support on the ground.

Either really. Though KotOR doesn't really lend itself to being a movie because of the variable nature of RPGs. The MC's character would have to be streamlined.
I'd prefer a few centuries later around the time of TOR (the MMO) where Jedi and Sith are still thriving, but the story is on a grander scale.
You could make the Playable classes as an enseble of Main Characters. Switching perspectives between the Jedi/Republic Troopers and the Sith/Imperial Troopers with both stories converging at the movie's climax.

KotOR era Jedi were more or less complacent. It wasn't until the Mandalorian Wars where Revan turned the Jedi into action heroes.
The KotOR Jedi were complacent and stagnant (much like the Prequel Era Jedi) because they had no true enemy to actively fight against - no glaring reminder of what the Jedi shouldn't succumb to.
The true Sith weren't back yet. Vitiate hadn't given the green light for the True Sith to return and invade the Republic, signaling the TOR Era.

From what I see in the feedback to TFA, it's more the hardcore nerds that get confused by even the most simple concepts, while casuals have zero problems with them. This reminds me of the theory that Finn is actually an undercover agent who doesn't even know he's an undercover agent. Basically Kylo Ren mindfucked him, probably literally to some people, to create a "traitor" who will join the Resistance and ultimately betray them when his programming kicks in. Han's offer to help was the belief that Kylo Ren killing him will not only get him in good with Snoke but erase any potential suspicion, thus Han sacrificed himself to protect his son on a incredibly dangerous mission. This leads to Snoke wanting to complete Kylo Ren's training, meaning the sacrifice apparently worked.
