Alright, with valentines day coming up i need to think of something to cook the girl. What i have come up with so far is Duck Breast with Fondant Potatoes. (havent figured out a starter or dessert yet)
What im stuck on though, is what sauce to make for the duck. I don't want to do orange sauce or red wine sauce. I am looking for something thick and dark.
Does /ck/ any any ideas?

Duck plays well with red fruits...
With valentines and chinee new year coinciding, you could go oriental. I like duck legs marinated overnight in soy and five spice, then slow cooked for 2-3hrs in a pot with halved plums, star anise and red chilli. (There's a Jamie Oliver recipe for this somewhere). You could make a similar plum sauce to go with pan fried beasts, but I like the legs when the meat just falls off the bone.
Cherry or plum.

And I am a huge fan of this grape/balsamic combo.
A strawberry sauce goes great with roasted duck , get a good jam and thin it out with some stock
