Leopard geckos are one of the most common pet reptiles out there, so let's have a thread. Share pictures, stories, information and ask questions about leos here.
I would really love to see other people's leos, there's just so many morphs and specialties out there that each one seems special. I would also LOVE to see enclosure pictures, I'm absolutely fascinated by how creative you can get with small animal tanks.
Pic is my super mack snow tremper albino, Starburst. I call her a female but it's too early on for me to estimate her sex accurately yet.
I love her she's my baby

>super mack snow tremper albino, Starburst
these fucking names trigger me. it's like 12 year olds make that shit up
>>2091564
Starburst is the of him
>>2091564
Does super mack snow tremper albino trigger you? Or Starburst?
I can understand that the morph name us super long, but I think Starburst us a nice name. It goes along with my crested gecko, Junior Mint. They're both named after candies.
My SHTCTB simply named Leo.
>>2091570
Only retards usually take care of and breed these so they get retarded names that appeal to retards
>>2091575
I'm not him, but what the fuck are you on about? the morph name makes perfect sense if you've got more IQ than a sack of diapers. I agree the name he gave the pet is a little weird, but, hey, to each their own. Go back to whatever hole you came out of and sperg out there.
>>2091564
I was about to say this.
>muh morphs
One of the cringiest aspects of reptilefags is when they list off the morph names of their pets
Fat Tail was here, Leos are losers.
>>2091580
>"hurr durr I'm triggered by other people taking interest in genetics because I failed high school biology"
Fuck off mate
>>2091576
>makes sense
Top fucking kek
>>2091588
Starburst kook aid grape chicken tendies sonic morph is my favorite xD
Morph names has nothing to do with science
>>2091592
>I don't understand something, so it's not scientific.
>>2091597
The morph names are not scientific you dense faggot. The morph IS but the name is made up by those with autism
>>2091564
I know those names can get long and sometimes pretty silly, but when you get in to multiple types combined in a single gecko there isn't any way to avoid it.
Super Mack snow refers to homozygous (super) snow morph (specific gene with specific colour and pattern) originally bred by John and Amy Mack. Tremper albino is one of three albino strains present in leos, this one originally bred by Ron Tremper.
>>2091604
So I guess Dog breeds should just be avoided, and called dogs, because they're just names to differentiate some genes and breed names are just for autistic faggots. I hope you get pink eye mother fucker
>not naming your geckos Glaurung or Ancalagon
>>2091608
Well, strictly speaking dog breeds aren't exactly scientific either. Some dog breeds were created by scientist and scientists will refer to breeds when it's useful, but dog-breeding isn't a science
>>2091608
Holy fuck you're retarded. Go back to elementary school and do some learning Cletus
>>2091608
You keep reading my post wrong. You're the one that's needs to go back to school.
>>2091586
>FUCK YOUR SHIT FACE
>>2091567
The WHAT?
>>2091588
he just said, that the morph names are silly. Not the morph itself.
And you have to agree, Leopard Geckos have some really dumb morph names.
Guys yes morph names are silly. I just listed the morph in case anybody wanted to know. Im sorry that shit triggered this one guy, but that doesnt mean everyone needs to lose their shit, i just wanted to see other /an/ peoples' leos. Now stop fucking arguing like a bunch of angry chimps.
I currently have 3 if anyone would like pics let me know. Blood tangerine x tangelo.
Mack snow (high yellow)
Halloween mask lavender snow.
>>2091648
I would love to see some pics! Not just the geckos, but their homes as well would also be cool
Sure. I'll take some of my 20 gallon L in a bit. Here's my pride and join my lavender snow.
Joy** also not sure why the pic flipped....
>>2091639
That's the problem with morphs. People are inbreeding and killing these animals just the get a certain color and name it "pony yellow buttercup fresca pizza topping"
Ignore the shitty petco temp and humidity I don't use them just came with my setup. Pretty basic setup really.
>>2091669
The calcium dust everywhere triggers me, but I like your geckos.
>>2091668
I'm sorry dude. Yeah morph names are dumb, but people have been breeding animals for looks for thousands of years now. Im not saying it's neccesarily right or anything, but I've never heard of inbreeding being an issue with leos before.
I really like the wild leopard gecko species and subspecies.
>>2091725
Fascio a shit
>>2091586
Look like someone left their leos on the toaster for too long.
>>2091816
Japanese cave geckos are like the evil version of leopards
>>2091816
Probably E. m. afghanicus, I really dig the bold patterning. E. hardwickii are also gorgeous animals.
>>2091912
Was just looking at these recently. I desperately hope I'll find these at the next reptile show. So fucking cool.
What are some good places to buy leopard geckos online? Quality breeders are hard to come by in my area, even at the conventions.
>>2092039
Where are you located? Facebook is littered with breeders selling leos
>>2091912
They're awesome. Super shy though. Rarely come out when room isn't dark.
My leopard gecko sparky...just had him put down away to eliminate his suffering. Such an awesome geckos. Geckos are great, aren't they?
>>2092476
Sorry for your loss, anon
>>2092493
Thank you man :), sincerely. I was a Grown ass man crying over a lil leopard gecko today. Probably bout the most pathetic ass thing anyone's ever seen lmao. I made a thread to try and have other people post their lost loved ones but I was called a troll/baiter...just trying to ease my pain.
>inb4 grownbaby
You're goddamn right I am.
>>2092476
Sorry about your loss, guy
What was wrong with him?
>>2092601
Gradually began losing weight. I also believe he did not or was not absorbing vitamin d3 well. Heat mat + heat lamp on him. He went from easily 100+ grams to 70~ two months ago to 53 this month. I decided he shouldn't have to waste away in front of me or be in pain. I know I made the right choice even if I don't get to see him anymore. Thank you as well mate.
Aw, what little cuties!!
Also, other Anon, I'm very sorry for your loss. I'm sure the little sweetie had a good life with someone who loved him that much.
>>2092678
Thank you anon he was 14 years old so I don't think I could ask much more of him. We had some killer times together. This is all I needed thank you guys/ladies :).
>>2092677
lol love it when they stick their tongues out. Whenever you touch their noses, at least mine, he'd lick my hand. And your setup looks awesome as hell!
>>2092677
Cute, looks like a little dinosaur
More Starburst, I love seeing you guys' geckos!
Also a reminder that tile is superior leo floor material
>>2092889
He/she is a lil cutie! The tile looks amazing in there. Just out of curiosity doesn't it make it kinda hard for em to wiggle around on? Considering they have claws?
>>2092897
Not at all. Like crested geckos, they will use the sole/palm part of their feet when claws aren't needed. Also tiles often come in designs that have some texture to them.
I really don't want to be 'that guy' but if your Leo is underweight/not eating for a week or more with no improvement, take it to the vet. Most likely it's a parasite and it'll eventually die of starvation
All these geckos are cute. My friend has a Leo that's 20 years old. He's had it since he was 6.
But there's one thing I hate: their tails. I hunt, skin, gut, etc animals. I love disgusting pus and cyst videos, and ingrown nails and shit. I saw a lot of gore in my edgy /b/ days. But seeing a leo (and I imagine the other geckos) drop their tail makes me sick as dicks.
When I saw it happen in person I threw up on my friend's bed and couldn't eat for a couple of days.
>>2092897
Thank you so much! I don't know the gender but I call her a girl for now
And to my knowledge, tile would be pretty similar to what they'd be living on in the wild. They only issue I've experienced with it is that she doesn't like lying on it for too long, but she may just be picky. Other than at night, she spends all her time in her humid hide, I assume because the sphagnum is soft like a cushion.
It's far better than sand, that's for sure. But I think any decent gecko owner knows that. Tile is better for the gecko, easier to maintain, and cheap. I only needed 6 tiles and they were only like 60 cents a piece. I have no idea why anybody would every useffort sand, it's terrible lol
>>2093057
Really? Because the first thing I thought when I saw this pic is that the tail looks like some kind of pink lemonade-flavored alien fruit
I once let a leopard gecko latch on to my nipple and just hang there. Thoughtd I'd maybe get lizard pwers from it. sorta swoll up but nothin crazy came of it.
