I find it to be one of the most beautiful endings I've seen for a show. I think the imagery along with the song captures the innocence and youth of Yuya, Yuzu, and Gon who have been thrown into a chaotic war they wanted nothing to do with - just wanting to learn how to duel for the fun of it. It also has a feeling that we are approaching the end of Arc-V, and invokes the appropriate bittersweet feeling of completion.

Well, Yuzu's always been fairly important, so I think it still works well in regards to her.
Even in Synchro, when her screentime was lessened, she still took relevant actions when she could (like encouraging Yuya during 69, trying to warn about the Dimensional War throughout the arc, hijacking Roger's announcement, convincing Sora once and for all).
Gon has always had it somewhat rough. He's always been a third wheel no matter who he's been with. Although, in a sense, his reliability in that role makes him more endearing, so I think he works in terms of the ED.

Sorry but the conflict just isn't interesting. The tops vs commons thing is presented in the most juvenile way. It isn't deeply explored and I don't find anybody in that whole dimension sympathetic. Shinji is the absolute worst possible representative of the commons. He's annoying as hell and uses a terrible deck. Yugo should have been that poor kid rising up to the top trying to reach Jack's level while getting his friends out of the ghetto. Yugo should have been the hope of the commons and the person they were behind. Shinji should have had problems with Yugo being seen as better than him and jealous of that. Instead Yugo just wanted to find Rin and Yuya got all the hopes.
Yuya should not have been the focus of Synchro. Yugo should have been. They should have been opposing sides and met in the finals before the winner fought Jack. Well, I certainly can't change your opinion on the matter; but I disagree.
While Yugo was completely underutilized and Shinji's role was fairly one-note, I actually rather liked the progression of events overall.
Shinji isn't really meant to be sympathetic since he's just a guy lashing out against grievances against him and is largely established as a symptom indicative of the system as a whole; were he of the tops, he would behave towards commons as they do, as shown by his duel vs Yuya. In that sense, I felt his duel with Yuya in particular was rather interesting because it was a showing of Yuya actually circumventing the system itself with his own ideals and style of dueling which I felt was a necessary and enjoyable step for his character development since it gave much needed credibility to his efforts as an entertainer and source of hope in the midst of an approaching interdimensional war.
Furthermore, you might have some issue with Yugo lacking relevance in his own dimension, but I rather liked the idea of Yuya hijacking the plot with his presence, partly because the progression of things on Yugo's side were subtly setting things up in a 5ds-esque sense. The planned outcome was presented in an obvious manner, but it's from that which we learn how much the dimensional war distorts the worlds, not just in terms of politics, but in terms of the narrative of the dimension itself and while you might not have bought the tops/commons conflict, I felt it worked well considering how the overarching system was portrayed.
Of course, this is all opinion based. Yours is also a fair assessment of the events and I can understand the frustration that the story didn't progress in a way you might've preferred. But, I merely disagree.

So we're in Fusion in 113. So that leaves us like 35 eps after 113 to conclude the plot. That's a pretty good chunk of time.
