Once I was able to read Japanese a whole new world of untranslated porn opened to me, and looks like I wasn't at all ready for that.
Now I kinda have a problem, I can't stop masturbating all of my free time.
Even when doing reps I get lewd cards mined from lewd games with lewd lines that remind me of a particularly good scene so I do it right there to the fucking anki card.

Is anybody interested in working together to make an anki deck for 日本語文法辞典全巻?

I know we have DOJG, but this resource is much better because it has more nuances and happens to be written completely in Japanese.

If a few happens to be interested, I guess we could setup a google spreadsheet and just type out some of the example sentences and the explanation of the grammar used and have somebody compile it once it's finished.

Does this just mean "if something happened to the villagers the chief's authority would be questioned"?
All the translations for 不利益 seem to imply something like a disadvantage which seems like a strange way to put it in the context (some monsters attacked the village, villagers were rescued)
Is it just the default way of saying it for a commonly used line or something?

There once was was a valley owned by a Saint Joachim. The German word for valley is "Tal" (or "thal" in "ye olde German") The coins minted there were known as coins from "Joachami's Tal". Rather than saying "Coin from Joachim's Tal" ever single time they became known as "Joachimsthaller". The coins became popular and spread around Europe. The Dutch, already being proficient Jew'esque traders, decided the "Joachim" part was superfluous. The coin became known as the "thaler", which then became "daler", which then became "daalder" thanks to the local dialects (The Dutch word for valley/Tal is "dal"). The word "daalder" carried over to all currencies used in Holland as name for certain coins, up until they switched to the Euro. The last coin in Holland to carry the name "daalder" was the "Rijksdaalder"("Rijk" as in the German Reich") which was worth 2 1/2 "Gulden"(The currency the Dutch had before Brussels, under pressure of oligarchs, imposed the Euro on everyone).

Now when the clogfags decided trade in Murica was pretty damn good several centuries ago, their coins followed them over there, along with the term "daalder". Of course as we now know Holland sold their Murican property to Anglos and the initial Dutch centric trading became Anglo centric instead.

As is made evident in this thread, Anglos are bad at any language but their own (and even there some struggle). The word "daalder" was made to endure the Anglo tongue, which twisted it into "dollar".
This is where my knowledge ends and my speculation starts.
Presumably the Mooners had been introduced to the Dutch daalder through centuries of trade, long before the Muricans forced their gunboats into the nip harbours introducing widespread trade with "dollars". It is entirely possible that the nips just extended their moonrune for the already relatively well known "daalder" to include the new "dollar".

Nobody is going to read this and I just wasted my time, end me.

I used Assimil to great effect as beginner, good way to get used to reading/listening (and pronunciation if you don't mind talking to a wall). Usually it will set you back ~200 dollars, but lets be honest where do we think we are. I would also watch anime episodes, first with subtitles and then raw. Not so much because I enjoyed the anime, but because it is basically the only medium that has translated spoken Japanese that is very widely available. Trying to get your hands on other Japanese spoken dialogue that has been translated into English is pretty hard.

Because there are people who literally just use Anki. They think if they watch enough anime and combine it with a 20k anki list that they'll be learning efficiently. It isn't even that it doesn't work, eventually you will learn Moon with a 100% deck method as well, it just a horribly inefficient way to do it.

Why not just tell your students what you want them to call you? Not like they give a shit if you give a pseudo name.
Or you could ask them what they want to call you. Maybe they want to call you "kappa" or "debitto"

And this is an English class anyway, shouldn't you be using English instead of jap? You'll be teaching in English, just call yourself "Mr Smith" or "Sim".

Senkaku islands are the islands your country and moonland are being extremely butthurt about towards each other.

Alternatively you could name yourself after some super warship of your navy, but you don't have those. The best you have is your "Lianoning" aircraft carrier which is just a fancy decommissioned Soviet boat.

The purchase of that ship is a cool story in and of itself btw, not least of all because cancer turkroaches were being manchildren about their Bosporus rights.
>>
>>142316382

I don't remember even seeing a bunch of these vocab words and for some reason they're 1m/2m intervals. I don't think I've messed with anything.

Should I be pressing "good" if I know what the vocab word means but I don't know how to say it in Japanese? That could be a big reason as to why I'm not learning these words but since every kanji has 3-4 ways of reading it depending on what it's attached to I stopped bothering.

Are you trying to learn vocab or kanji?

How do you keep track of false good answer in anki?
For example, according to the SRS algorithm you're supposed to see a word in 5 days, then in 15 days, then in 2 months and so on. Then you can tell if you forgot the word or not.

But what if you meet the word in a sentence that you read in a VN one day before the 2 month rep? Of course it's fresh in your mind, but it's potentially a false good answer since you might have forgotten it if you don't meet the word outside anki. I normally press hard or again at these occasions, but I really have a hard time remembering which words I met outside anki and remember them only because of that.
>>
>>142316663
>Vocab rarely has more than one reading.

>>
>>142316781

Okay, because I'm bored I will assume that you are not a troll, and just someone of partial Chinese background who knows the characters for his Chinese name but is otherwise illiterate. There is no other explanation for your mistaken belief that those same characters did not exist in Japanese.

Hanzi/kanji can have many, very different pronunciations in Japanese. You can mix and match them pretty much however you want in a name.

沈:
Chinese-derived readings: chin, shin, jin
Japanese-derived readings: shizumu, shizumeru, shizuku, shizumi, shizume
Special name readings: ushi

威:
Chinese-derived readings: i
Japanese-derived readings: odoshi, odosu, osore, odokashi, odokasu
Special name-only readings: takeshi, taka, take, takeru, tsuyo, tsuyoshi, toshi, nari, nori

You can technically choose to pronounce your name with any combination of those. However, if you are Chinese, the Japanese will insist on pronouncing your name as Chin'i, because that is the closest Japanese approximation to the real Chinese readings, which are 沈 (chen and shen), 威 (wei).
>>
>>142316868
But anon, you're essentially cheating the SRS algorithm.
>>
>>142316768
there are enough words in the japanese language for this not to matter at all

like, at all

>>142316834
I wouldn't use the word "rarely" considering I can list over 30 off the top of my head
>>
>>142316923
And I can list 10000 that only has one reading.
>>
>>142316885
>Okay, because I'm bored I will assume that you are not a troll, and just someone of partial Chinese background who knows the characters for his Chinese name but is otherwise illiterate. There is no other explanation for your mistaken belief that those same characters did not exist in Japanese.
Pretty much. Also, I was under the impression that since time has changed the character, so has the pronunciation of the word. Like, the word for woman uses the exact same character in both languages, but is pronounced differently.
>>
>>142316891
If anything the SRS algorithm is holding you back at that point.

If you were to live in Japan and be forced to communicate with your shitty Japanese all day, but because of that remember a ton of words you encounter. Then you go to your daily anki session, and you mark the words in anki as "hard" because you only know them through IRL. You are being a retard at that point allowing anki to become a burden instead of a learning tool. If a word is easy it is easy, get it on the mature pile ASAP, fuck me, do it manually if you have to. Don't force it onto the hard pile because "I didn't learn it through anki". Fucking turbonerd, I swear.

Can someone help me understand a dialogue?

It's from a h-manga here (http://g.e-hentai.org/s/9023f2ea3d/811592-135), specifically this page (http://exhentai.org/s/3d18dd239b/811592-151), if you can't/don't want to click, the context is:
Childhood friend misses last train, stays with a guy, comes into his room with drinks, they have nothing to talk about (they were drinking before), until she asks if he's not going to do something to her.
She says she was worried he didn't see her romantically, and sex.
Lastly, she says:

> 安全日だからまぁ大丈夫ですよ
(got this one)

> 襲われなかったらどうしようって言ったでしょ?
I told you I didn't know what to do if I wasn't assaulted?
(hm, no, she didn't had any lines like this in the story, and what saying about NOT being attacked? This doesn't make sense to me)

> こうなりたくて来たんです
Because I wanted to get like this

Please help me understand what is it about, or correct me if I'm getting something wrong.
>>
>>142316979

Well, those same characters exist in Japanese as well, not even in variant forms. They are identical in appearance, unlike certain other characters.

It is as I wrote above. Technically, you can choose to pronounce your name with any one reading for the first character and any one reading for the second.

If you try pronouncing it to a Japanese as anything other than Chin'i, however, you will get nothing but confusion.

Your Japanized Chinese name is Chin'i. Start learning to love it.

Oh yeah, and don't let the kids start calling you Chin-chin. It means wee-wee.

>>
>>142316979

Oh, and finally, you could just go by the modern Chinese pronunciation of your name too. They would write Shenwei as シェンウェイ without losing any phonetic data, other than the tones, of course.
>>
>>142317635
But, isn't hiragana for children?
>>
>>142317801

>>142317889
and dank af sound fx
>>
>>142317801

Nooooo... It is an integral part of the language. Using too much kana, especially when kanji should be used does look childish, however.

Also, that's not Hiragana, it's Katakana which is used for writing foreign names.

If you insist on using the Hanzi for your name, you will be assumed to be called Chin'i. If you want to keep the Chinese-Chinese pronunciation (Shenwei, I assume), just abandon the hanzi entirely and accept シェンウェイ as your name.
