In short, it's too short and Jonathan's more of an ideal than a character, like Superman.
Everything between the Joestar Mansion fight and Dio's Castle fight was a forgettable mess bogged down by lame villains and pointless character additions (Tonpetti, Straits, fucking Poco, but Dire's excusable), along with introducing a pretty uncreative power set that just let Jonathan and Zeppeli do whatever they wanted but mostly let them punch things better. It seemed more like Araki wanted to make things more EXTREME and cliche to appeal to the demographic that loved Hokuto no Ken instead of writing what he actually wanted to write.
