We often point to a studio and laugh when a shit LN or manga adaptation fails, but have you ever wondered how these publishers can afford to, or even want to make an anime of their shit LN/Manga series?
The fact is, even if an anime bombs, the merchandising and advertisement from the anime for the source material more than makes up for the investment the publisher puts in. This is why we have so many shit selling generic LN harem adaptations every season, because the owners of the source material can afford it, and it turns a profit in the end.
Since KyoAni publishes a lot of the source material to their shows, even if the anime doesn't sell well enough for traditional studios to consider it a success, the money they get from merchandise and LN sales makes up the difference.
It's also why KyoAni shows tend to have anime original characters, it's just the staff deciding in production what worked for the LN doesn't really work for anime, so they adapt it as they see fit. The reason why they have no problem changing it is because it was their story to begin with.

Why the hell is kyoani forcing these filters in everything they do lately? Their animation is more fluid than its ever been and the angles and "camerawork" are great. But they just can't stop themself from shitting these terrible filters over everything and cramming in stuff like depth of field and chromatic aberration just to make it look artsy, like the one shot with the sunlight, while all it does is prevent the viewer from actually seeing all the detail that went into it unless they keep going back and rewatching it.
How can so many of you defend the use of these terrible filters? I'm not even talking about the animation, which is arguably the best thing kyoani does, or the CGI which they managed to implement nicely, but these filters, which are just trash.
