That would basically be the death of /a/. There are only a couple of older series that have threads that go over 100 replies before they die. We'd basically be stuck with the same few memethreads about NGE, Berserk and LoGH

There's nothing wrong with slow boards. You can't make threads about older shows because they just get bumped off these days. If they lasted long enough for people to find them over a few days you might get some actual discussion and not just rampant shitposts

Because /a/ is too fast. Of course NGE, Berserk, and LoGH get lots of replies, they're all considered "/a/ canon". Try making a thread for DNA², Touch, or even Kimagure Orange Road, it will be gone within an hour.
>>

Sometimes I get the idea to convert this or Evangelion or Ranma into files my Xbox can read and watch it on my CRT via XBMC, or buy something that can put video files from my PC onto actual VHS tapes

Then I usually decide it's way too much effort and forget about it until threads like these show up

>>
>>140722087
>/a/ is too fast
/a/ is actually pretty slow compared to what it was a few years ago. We have many threads that last on average 2 or 3 days such as the /ak/ threads. We also had that stride show thread that lasted an entire week.

Generals are, generally, garbage, but if what we tried a /retro/ general on current /a/? If we consolidate all of the threads that people want to make but know they can't, because they won't last an hour, we'll be able to discuss our retro shows 24/7 with no fear of having to constantly bump a thread. LoGh, NGE, and the like probably shouldn't be welcome there, though, because they can survive on their own. I'd like to think that it wouldn't turn into a circlejerk, due to the assumed maturity of people that can watch old stuff.
>>
>>140722352
The only thing I would agree with is /ma/ only because I despise random manga dumps in threads. A crosslink would be fine.

Also /a/ would be kill without seasonal posting so /asg/ really shouldn't happen.
>>
>>140722421

You are absolutely retarded and your solution to this is to make more fucking boards for absolutely no reason instead of removing the generals outright. Who would you even discuss anime with given what you're proposing? The entirety of /a/ is at least 50% generals by now. You won't be discussing anything with them because they watch a single show each season and hole up in their generals. Either you educate them on not being worthless crossboarding garbage or you ban them outright.
Please stop posting for the sake of all of us.

Do you think that '/asg/' would not be circlejerks 24/7? It's like you want a personal moderator/janitor assigned to each thread to make sure each show's thread goes well, every thread. /a/ posters that know how cancerous it is will never move to /asg/ and you'll still have the same retards never move from their 24/7 generals that would supposedly interact with others in the new boards.

I fucking hate splitfags so much, they know nothing. I bet they browse /a/ for three hours per day and then complain that no one discusses their favorite show from the 90s. It's like some reddit mentality. There's a reason currently airing shows make up the majority of threads.
Also, an important aspect is the fact that older shows are passé, which means that they are less in touch with Current Year, which in turn means they are less relatable. I think that matters a lot for OC creation.

Anime and manga also go in hand, you choke potential discussion by restricting them to themselves.
>>
>>140724530

>>140720907
>a containment board for seasonal shows
Discussion of seasonal shows is what makes /a/ /a/. All of the iconic moments in this board's history (Endless 8, Geass Sundays etc.) were a result of what was at the time currently-airing anime being followed by the board together. There is a reason discussion of older shows is less common, because there is objectively less value in discussing something that has been discussed since the mid-90s than in discussing something that has new content coming into being to be dissected for the first time. Not discussing currently airing anime with /a/ and keeping yourself to whatever threads pop up for series you've already completed is the surest sign that you're a redditor that has watched less than 20 anime in your life. If you want discussion of ancient series everyone has seen with nostalgia goggles strapped onto your head, then just fucking leave this board, because every other fucking generic anime forum on the internet already caters to that. If you don't keep up with currently airing anime, you don't really like anime, and as /v/ proves, people who don't really like a medium should just get the fuck off of a board for discussing it before their cantankerous ignorance shits up the board around them. Tl;dr people who seriously propose making an /ar/ board should be banned on sight for the good of people on this board who actually like anime.
