Seriously, Taichi and Koushiro actually have a decent friendship, while that whole rival relationship with Yamato always felt stupid to me. Like something that the writers kept pushing but failed in the actual delivery. While he and Koushiro always had a bro relationship, without every tiny bit of drama making an arbitrary gulf between them.
As for the Mimi thing, I honestly just thought Taichi needed someone to pair up with. Always felt weird for the leader to be left out so randomly like that. And she was the less terrible of the bunch.
