Just started using SVP a couple days ago after setting it up but today I've noticed that sometimes there would be a distortion around moving objects (Here's an example, pay attention to the area around Kousaka's dress [i/imgur.com/ZnBSBfY.gifv])

Not only this but the animation will also rarely be a little choppy for a few seconds

What do I need to change to fix this? Btw, I'm using the free version of SVP and I have a GT 635M as my GPU

SVP is shit anyway.

How so /a/non? For shows that look shitty in 60 fps you can just disable it, I don't see any reason not to use it
>>
>>135631372
it always looks shitty.

Wait, there are actually people paying for this crap?

There will always be some imperfections with SVP. You're guessing for information that just isn't there. I've used it for a while but disabled it again because there were just too much distortions. You can however set it up so it will only smooth panning scenes which should give you perfect results. Normal animation will however still be choppy.
>>
>>135631041
did you try setting it up for anime? also can you re upload the image its not working

sometimes i do have some distortions when panning, but it doesn't bother me much.

also the free version 3.x or whatever isnt that bad, used it for years, i guess theres less distortion in 4?

Gah, fucked up the imgur link, sorry [i.imgur.com/ZnBSBfY.gifv]

Also yeah, I tried setting it up for anime using some guides I found but they don't seem to be 100% all there, one example, everyone says to have artifact masking on low but I get noticeably better results on high

Confirmed for not know SHIT about animation.

The distortions are still the same, but the version 4.X is way better optimized, so you can set the artifacts masking a little bit higher, even if you have a shitty CPU/GPU.

Anyway, even in the highest settings there still are noticeable artifacts.

https://www.svp-team.com/wiki/Watching_anime

this is the only thing you should follow really, i keep artifact masking on average/default.

anyway unfortunately what you posted is the result of what >>135633069 said.

Its basically guessing what the next frame will be. I generally have it on all the time, just cause i cant be bothered turning it off. But its really only good for action scenes and porn. SO if your watching some SOL stuff, you don't really need it.

I know i know, but he is using the older version

and honestly, The presets, to me anyway, feels like something is off

if interpolation is so good it can create 52/60 frames out of nothing why don't animation studios just fire their inbetweeners and use this program?
>>
>>>/g/
>>
>>135634177
Because frame interpolation will never be perfect, ripples and other artifacts will always be present. It would also increase the size of the BD discs.

Not to mention that some people just find it plain disgusting.
>>
>>135634177
I think what svp does, is it just repeat the frames, to make it "smooth" which doesn't increase the quality at all. I mean it does the job for what it's advertised to do, which is to make the video look "smooth"
