Literally all you do is read the seller's feedback-as-a-seller, and if it's five guys who are obviously all his mates, then you move down to the next listing. If there's negative feedback, read it and see what it says.
eBay isn't the wild west it was back in 2000; nowadays most of the sellers are small businesses, with customer service departments, that turn over thousands of items a week.
