The group I work with has gotten scared by several recent events and decided to quietly suspend releases until things settle down. Releasing has always been the most unnecessary step of the whole scanlating process. It's not like we get anything out of it other than the gratitude of strangers. Anyone who cares enough about our projects to be willing to put work into them is already part of the group and will continue benefiting from their own work so there's not much internal sympathy for passive leechers.
It's still sad that it's come to this.

Back when the anime was airing there were a few people who said they wanted to translate the newer manga chapters but there was a lack of raws and they had to resort to typesetting and translating from shitty Korean-translated scans. I started importing and scanning the recent chapters for that reason but now the main translator (deel) seems to be dead and nobody is translating it except Waterflame and their translations are godawful and they didn't even use my raw for the latest chapter.

Well, if it's SFX we're talking about, I tend to leave them alone if the mangaka likes writing SFX that has their own artistic quality applied to it (hand-drawn with ink brushes, etc.).
If it's generally something that looks like it's just scribbled on (more prevalent in webmanga as due to the pipeline, SFX are often an afterthought), I'll clean it off and replace it.
The page in question has blocks of text, narration I'm assuming, so cleaning it off is probably the better choice in this situation.

I'm not worried; the arrest was for idiots uploading shit before it'd been released in Japan. I think that was the bigger issue for the publishers, the fact that these big shonen series were being made public before the release date, and copies were being stolen from pallets and deliveries meant for bookstores.
I'm sure the piracy just came as part of that. It's not going to stop everyone else doing smaller series or series way after they're published.
