I fucking hate that ship and legitimately can't understand the appeal of it beyond Twitards who still think Edward is the perfect boyfriend, but I'm always going to take their side against the people who are against them enjoying what they like because it's their right to do so. And that's more important than my own personal opinion on whether the ship's good or not.
Same with the people who whine about fans of Thorki being apologists for incest IRL, or about Eren/Levi fans from Attack on Titan being secret pedophiles. I also hate those two ships, but the kinds of people who can't deal with the fact that people like something they don't are almost always more annoying than actual bad fans themselves.
