In 2004, shortly after the death of Maria Gomez (the proprietor of the house), her son and his wife approached the town council with the offer to turn the house into a tourist attraction in return for getting to keep some percentage of the profits, or something of that nature. Not very long afterwards, 'new' faces started to appear. They appeared very shoddy and unconvincing, and studies were performed on these new faces, which showed them to be drawn on with acombination of household cleaners.
So now, thanks to the faggot son and his wife, nobody will take the faces seriously, even though the 1971 apparitions were the genuine.

The 1971 ones were likely fake as well. Most investigators came to the same conclusion that they were using some kind of chemicals.
Obviously they got tired of the families shit and went ahead and tested the faces properly though and called them out on it.
