Must say I believe I've seen it too. Possibly in the same manner, from what you described. This was around, 2003, no later than 2004, Limewire era. I downloaded this Faces of Death style compilation with the Budd Dwyer suicide, the Christine Chubbock suicide, and a bunch of other segments of varying lengths.

I remember the way Dwyer's blood just gushed out of his head and nose after the gunshot. As far as the Chubbock footage, from what I recall there's the shot, a very quick and violent explosion, then her body goes limp. What you see is a small portion of her back and her head bleeding, but her body is very low from the camera's angle. You can actually see the gore but not her face after the gunshot. Does that sound about right?

If it helps at all I can remember one other segment from the compilation: this one was really short, maybe about 5-10 seconds total. It shows this 25-30 year old blonde woman with big hair (so this was probably filmed in the late 80s, it has that aesthetic). Anyway she's being filmed sitting on the back of a parked pickup truck with her legs dangling off the tail. There's a sort of hood covering the bed, kind of like old fashioned covered wagons. From what I can tell from the short clip she's in a wide dirt lot, the type of place where they hold monster truck rallies and stuff like that, white trash shit. Anyway the cameraman gets closer to the truck to film her as she commentates with a microphone and there's an explosiom from right behind her under the covered bed. There's a split second where you see her back catch fire and the clip ends. Nothing fancy just trying to be as helpful as possible in tracking down the compilation, if it still exists.

Just to clarify about the footage of Chubbock: the camera was stationary and angled in a way to film a woman sitting upright at a news desk. After she shoots herself she's slumped down on the desk and the camera doesn't adjust, so she's just barely visible at the bottom of the frame. You cannot see her face but you can see her back and the rear of her head gushing blood and brains. This was ten years ago, I've only seen the Dwyer video once and the Chubbock video (I think) once, but the moment of death is still crystal clear. Oh no no no, I think it's a cute, funny little cartoon and it's complete bullshit that they banned it - but it doesn't surprise me that they had to. A cartoon like this would have been celebrated some 50-60 years before its release, but you just can't get away aiming something like this at children with today's sensibilities about violence and religious overtones. The blue food is actually mentioned in Arthur C. Clarke's original 2001 novel, for what that's worth. Supposedly its thematic purpose is to show that the aliens constructed the environment inside the monolith based on Dave's memories, without any regard for things below the surface level. Hence why the food boxes inside the "apartment" are filled with nondescript, bizarre exotic alien "food."

Sounds right up Kubrick's alley, and frankly, given that many of the people who swear this scene was in the original theatrical cut likely never read the book - I'm willing to assume that this scene really wasy shot and made its way into the original cut of the film. It's plausible that the movie was later edited down for perfection's sake, and the lost scenes were simply cast away, never to be shown again. Wouldn't even be the only time in the Kubrick canon that exact thing has happened - just look at the lost endings to Dr. Strangelove and The Shining.

Regardng te people claiming to have seen the Chubbuk tape: it's just a enactment. And not a good one either, lol. I have no idea what the compilation was called, but it was extremely cheap. If I recall correctly the VHS cover was washed out yellow, it was an American production, released in the Netherlands with subtitles, ....this all I can say, it was way too long ago since I rented it. But yeah, as I said, it sucked. There's better stuff on YouTube.

Maybe some one can help me out here; there's two pieces of media which I've been unable to find again but creeped me the fuck out as a kid. Both were seen on early morning television.

The first seemed like a kids show. It had two kids who traveled into some underground area where it had these large anthropomorphic animals.There were quiet a few different animals, but I remember distinctly the lion being kind of their leader.

The episode I remember the most had them getting into some car and traveling off. They came to some toll road and there was a troll who demanded payment. They didn't have any money, and I think he wanted the children to eat instead than.


The other was some sort of weird fucking shit that had to do with puppets. I can just remember certain scenes. One had a puppet who was sitting in one of those metal wash tubs, and he had a brush and shit. I think he may have been singing a song.

The next had a kid who was visiting his grandmother, something about baking cookies with her or some shit.

I found out they made a faces of death 5 and 6, pretty much sounds like a compilation of earlier films. Nothing special. But on Wikipedia apparently there are 2 other versions of Faces of Death VI. The second one is the most interesting.

2. The second is a nearly extinct mail-order only version (which Fangoria possibly offered in the back of old issues) that is no longer available. Most outlets online with Faces of Death 6 to download carry this version. It features a different narrator, all different footage and the title screen reads "FACES OF DEATH" and then the word "SIX" slowly becomes imposed over the text. As stated on various sites, this version is extremely washed out. Most of the scenes are almost completely white and unwatchable. It should also be noted that at the very end of this version the "Gorgon Video" bumper begins to play but is suddenly cut off.

Could this be what people saw? Anyone want to go searching for it and find out?

It was defo not FoD. I actually called the the video place today, they have no lists of what VHS they used to rent out.
I was about 16, so this was what, 15 years ago.
I always went to that store when my father was stationed in the Netherlands cause they had EVERYTHING. From banned movies to locally made/underground gore.
I'm pretty sure it was just something that a few college people put together, as some parts were just 1 to 1 copied from similar compilations. The quality of the Chubbuk part was so shit, you could easily tell it was faked, I don't get how people could even mistake that for the real thing, lol.
Either way, again: I'm sure it was made in the US, since the actors were american. Was subbed in Dutch, and I'm damn sure the cover was yellow. There was a cool scene on it from someone jumping off a skyscraper, watched it a couple of times back then, so yeah. Good luck finding that crap.
