just look into people who have been exonerated from guilty verdicts with physical evidence after giving false confessions. it happens a lot more than you might expect. it happens most often to vulnerable people like youth, people with low IQs, people who have been questioned alone for hours or lied to by the police. it really does exist but some people would just prefer to pretend it doesn't happen because that means innocent people are locked away.
