The decapitated remains of a white male were located in weeds at the foot of East 49th Street and Praha Avenue. Located next to him was another decapitated male who was later identified via fingerprints as Edward A. Andrassy. Andrassy had been dead for two to three days and was approximately 28 years old at the time of his death.
Evidence suggests that the unidentified victim's body was saturated with oil and set afire after death. The fire merely scorched the skin leaving it with a peculiar condition of having a reddish yellow color and being tough not unlike bacon rind. The skin was carefully washed in benzol, dried, and examined under the microscope. Nothing of importance, other than the hair follicles minus the hair, was noted. It appeared as though the hair had either been shaved or burned off. The skin itself was hard and tough, and very resistant to both acids and alkalis. Warm or hot water caused it to swell and curl although no difference in texture resulted. It was finally decided that scorching would produce such a condition on dead tissue only.
The unidentified male became known as "victim 1." The Cleveland Torso Murderer was an unidentified serial killer active in the Cleveland, Ohio, area in the early 20th century. The official toll of the murderer was 12, killed between 1935 to 1938, but some believe that there may have been as many as 40+ victims in the Cleveland, Pittsburgh, and Youngstown, Ohio, area between the 1920s and the 1950s. Two strong candidates for addition to the list of those killed are an unidentified victim known as "Lady of the Lake," found on September 5, 1934, and Robert Robertson, found on July 22, 1950.
The victim was found nude inside of a metal cabinet that was placed on the sidewalk at 75 West Mosholu Parkway.
Her head was wrapped in duct tape and multiple layers of plastic wrap. Included with the body were two bed sheets - one white and one white with cartoon characters.

Distinguishing Marks/Features: Pale complexion. Seven scars, three of which could have resulted from surgical procedures. Two of the possible surgical scars were on the chest and groin. They had healed quite well, leaving only a hairline trace. The third was on his left ankle, which looked like a cut-down incision, made to expose a vein so that a needle may be inserted to give an infusion or transfusion. There was a 1 1/2 - inch scar on the left side of the chest, and a round, irregular scar on the left elbow. On his chin was an L-shaped scar, a quarter-inch long in each direction. There was no vaccination scar. He had been circumcised. Several small moles on his body, including three on the left side of his face, a tiny one below his right ear, three small ones on his chest, and a large one two inches above his right wrist.

The victim's skeletal remains were located in an abandoned well by a work crew that was excavating gas tanks at a convenience store on the east side of the city near Central Avenue and 108th Street. The remains were wrapped in burlap that looked like part of a bag and had been placed in a barrel. There was also evidence that the woman's left upper arm had been sawed off. Police also found a man's vest and pants on top of the remains, leading investigators to believe the woman might have been killed at the well.
The victim's clothing, personal effects, and dental work put her time of death between 1900 and 1920, as well as point to her having been middle or upper class. Forensic investigations by the police and archeologist, Dr. Ernie Walker, narrowed the time frame between 1920 to 1924. Her clothing was typical of the 1908 to 1916 period. The well the woman was found in must have been abandoned at the time of her death, which suggests it happened after 1914, when Sutherland started getting water piped in from Saskatoon. In 1912, the Shore Hotel was built on the site where the remains would later be found. The building stood empty from 1919 to at least 1927.
At that time, Sutherland was a railway town of about 1,000 people. The town now is part of Saskatoon.

On June 13, 2001, a motorist parking behind the Royal Victoria Hospital discovered a skull next to the vehicle. The police found the rest of the skeleton under leaves in woods next to the parking lot, near the Allan Memorial Institute, a psychiatric hospital associated with the Royal Victoria Hospital and McGill University.
The body had probably had been there for about a year. An autopsy revealed no cause of death and no signs of violence.
Time and weather probably separated the skull from the skeleton and somehow it rolled into the parking lot.
Detectives searched through missing person reports across Canada. They also checked to see whether the woman might have been a staff member or patient at the hospital. But they were able to account for all the people reported as having disappeared from the hospital during 2000.
The victim's hands had been cut off (probably to prevent identification through fingerprints) and he had been stabbed 127 times in various parts of his body, including his face and genitals.
He was found in a box and wrapped in garbage bags. The box had been taken to a city dump when someone noticed blood. There was no snow on the box in which the Cartierville body was found leaving detectives to theorize it hadn't been there long.
The extensive damage inflicted on the victim - particularly the mutilated genitals - indicates a possible crime of passion. Investigators haven't ruled out the possibility the killing was a "settling of accounts" by organized crime.

On April 9th, 2007 at approximately 18.10, a Glanbrook resident was walking their dog along Glancaster Road when they observed an object in the ditch just off the west side of the roadway. They took a closer look and believed that what they were looking at was a human skull.
On April 18th, 2007 Hamilton Police commenced a search of the area utilizing their Ground Search and Rescue Team, O.P.P. cadaver dogs and volunteers from the community. Approximately one hour into the search, O.P.P. cadaver dogs located human remains near the intersection of Glancaster Road and Fiddlers Green Road in a heavily forested area.
Hamilton Police have made several attempts to identify these human remains with negative results. There are currently no active missing person reports matching the description of the found human remains and all surrounding jurisdictions have been made aware of the find.
The date of death is estimated to have occurred in the Summer or Fall of 2006. However, an estimated date of death occurring in the Fall of 2005 or Spring 2006 cannot be ruled out. Foul play is not suspected.
DNA has been extracted from the femur of the found human remains by members of the Centre of Forensic Sciences and is available for comparison.

The victim's remains were located at a wooded rest stop/picnic area on Highway 7 in Eramosa Township, east of Guelph, Ontario on August 28, 2005. Guelph is located approximately one hour west of Toronto, Ontario. Investigators believe she had been dragged into the woods from the picnic area. Her body was covered with a Woods sleeping bag.
The sleeping bag was sold by Canadian Tire across Canada, and the color manufactured until 2004. It was noted to be in good condition. Her clothing was found to have been purchased in the Montreal area.
She may have been a recent immigrant to Canada, possibly from Europe.

Case History
On July 24, 1974 the nude body of a young woman was discovered in an isolated area of Naramata, north east of Penticton.
Located in the Chute Lake area by two employees of the Canadian Pacific Railway working on a microwave project, the body was down an embankment in a heavily wooded area.

A truck driver pausing at an Interstate 80 turnout, known as Bitter Creek, spotted the victim's nude body lying face down in the snow. The body appeared as if it had been dropped out of a truck and came to rest at the bottom of a slope.
Investigators theorize the victim was probably killed elsewhere and dumped near the westbound side of the highway between October 1991 and February 1992.
The cause of death was listed as an ice pick or similar object inserted in the victim's left nostril, penetrating her sphenoid bone. Examiners also found signs of strangulation, beating trauma to the face and jaw, as well as anal and vaginal sexual assault.
The sophistication of the killing points to the possible involvement of a serial offender. Detectives have determined the killer's blood is type O.
The victim, known as "Bitter Creek Betty" is buried in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
DNA evidence obtained from the victim matches DNA evidence from 390UFWY.

Between 11:15pm and 11:30pm, three people driving along Old Line Road saw the victim's body lying at the roadside, about six miles from Westby, Wisconsin. Her hands were severed at the wrist and have not been recovered.
The killer made no attempt to hide her body. She had been bludgeoned to death at another location. A yellow 2-door compant vehicle was seen in the vicinity.
When the sheriff's deputy arrived on scene at 11:50pm, he noticed fresh tracks in the gravel indicating a vehicle had made a U-turn.
After seeing the news report the murder, a couple stated they had seen a parked, bright yellow compact car with a man outside of it. The man was moving around to the driver's side from the passenger side at about 9:45pm on May 4th. When investigators checked the area the couple reported seeing the vehicle, they found a piece of the fractured denture, some blood, and a man's Seiko watch. The watch's band had separated from the watch at one end.
Based upon the tire tracks, investigators theorize that the suspect had pulled of US Highway 14 and made an attempt to dump the body when the couple interrupted him. As he drove away, his tires spun. The car then went south then west on Old Line Road about three miles and dumped the body.

An elderly couple spotted what they believed to be a body or mannequin lying face down in the snow over a hill near US Route 250.
The woman had been dead for two days but she was dropped off only a few hours before being found. Snow had fallen over the three previous days but there was no snow on top of the body. There were fresh tracks and footprints near the body.
West Virginia State Police troopers were looking for a white male in his 40s in connection with the case. He described the man as weighing between 185 and 200 pounds and standing about 5 feet, 10 inches tall. The man was apparently spotted in the area where her body was found.
It's possible that she may have worked at, frequented or lived near a bar in Wheeling. There appeared to be no evidence of a struggle or of sexual assault or signs of violence.

A groundskeeper at the Pleasant Valley Memorial Park Cemetery discovered the decedent's body near the section of the cemetery where infants are buried, but not near any particular grave.

She had no receipts in her pockets for investigators to trace her movements. Most of the headstones nearby where she was found were fairly recent. The site would probably not be known to a drifter.

Annelie Ojonen left home to go to work, but never showed up at her work at Kalmar airport on September 19, 1997. Her boyfriend reported her missing that evening.

In the case of unsolved murders, often the local authorities have a suspect but don't have enough evidence for an arrest. And the family will be in denial and holding out hope that their loved one just ran away and is living a life somewhere else.

The world is getting safer everyday. We're at lows in crime we've not seen in decades if not centuries. Crime fighting gets more and more sophisticated everyday while our ability to track locations grows more accurate.
Nowadays everyone has a cellphone with GPS that's always on and can be tracked with ease. Cars even have GPS units now. It's exponentially more difficult to evade detection without taking extreme measures, which is seen as even more suspicious these days.
Most of the cases in this thread are from 20 years ago. The reapl heinous ones are from 40+ years ago.
I'm not saying this shit is okay, or that it couldn't happen today, but it's so rare and unlikely that you shouldn't base your actions today on horror stories about what life was like 20+ years ago. Be alert, but you need to understand that it's been getting safer and safer everywhere.

It's not that USA has more serial killers than rest of the world, it's just that we have the best law enforcement system than the rest of the world so we document everything that is why so many of these documented cases are from USA. The rest of the world has corrupted law enforcement or lazy law enforcement that don't document shit and just right everything off as accidental death so they don't have to do actual police work.

That's true but we still have human trafficking that still happens and it seems like very little is done about it. I went to Europe I guess three or four summers ago and the main thing they told us was that the girls had to stay in groups of at least three and one guy because of how bad some of the trafficking is.

On May 21, 1971, Claude Shelton and his wife Sue Shelton, left their residence at Gerry's trailer park on 18th street in Corbin, and never returned.
They left their residence, after putting their three kids to bed, apparently en route to King's truck stop, five miles away. This is according to their daughter who overheard them talking after going to bed.
The Shelton's presumably left in their vehicle, a white 1967 Ford Galaxie 500, plate number 937 944. None of the employees at King's remember seeing them. A witness stated that they had been saving money and had approx. $600.00. The daughter said they kept money in a bowl in the kitchen but it was never found.
Claude Shelton had been steadily employed for 10 years and, according to witnesses, both he and his wife were fond of their children and it is unlikely that they would leave them.
It's weird that both of them went missing. The whole truck stop/missing money thing makes me wonder if drugs or something was involved.

Unidentified African American girl who was found murdered on February 28, 1983 in St. Louis, Missouri. The victim was estimated to be between eight and eleven when she was murdered. The victim had also been decapitated and raped. The head has never been located, preventing dental examination and the possibility of facial reconstruction.
She was believed to have been strangled three to five days earlier and was then disposed of in the basement of an abandoned house, which was found by looters after one lit a cigarette that created enough light to expose the body. She was initially believed to possibly be a prostitute until police moved her body and discovered she did not have developed breasts, indicating she had not gone through puberty.
It was concluded that the victim was not killed at that location, as no traces of blood were found by the body. She was bound at the wrists with a red nylon cord face down. Her head had been severed cleanly by a large blade. Her head has never been found, but the fingerprints, footprints and DNA information have been collected. Because there were no distinct marks on her body, except for spina bifida occulta, it is unlikely that she would be identified. After ten months her burial took place in December 1983.
Authorities decided to exhume the body in 2013 in order to gather more information. The remains had been misplaced, along with many other bodies in the Washington Park Cemetery, due to the negligence of cemetery records. The remains were located by using camera calibration techniques. After tests were concluded at the University of North Texas, she is believed to have originally lived in the southeast. Her sweater had previously been sent to a psychic but was never returned, presumably lost in the mail. She was also presumed to have been a victim of Vernon Brown, who had murdered young girls in a similar manner. Brown was executed in 2005 and never confessed to murdering the Jane Doe.

A witness says her mother and sister saw the woman as they drove toward a church up the road. When they came back 15 minutes later, they saw a fire burning in the field.
The women believed a farmer was burning something until the next day when the woman's body was discovered in that spot.
A suspect in the case died in 1992. The suspect planted tobacco in Canada. Because this woman was a stranger to neighbors, investigators think it is possible that the woman came down from Canada to meet with the suspect. Investigators interviewed the suspect in 1968. He admitted that he and a friend drove up the road to get a look at the woman, but told detectives she had vanished when they got there.
The whereabouts of the victim's remains are unknown, but investigators have hair and blood samples from the original investigation.
