I moved to Phoenix in 2001 when I was 17. Before, never saw anything strange in the sky. I write articles as a side job/hobby. They're technical articles and involve a lot of pictures. I'd recommend a .300 Winchester Magnum or a .338 Lapua are world-class for rifles as the distances in these videos are deceiving. There will be no stealth in an urban area, all the guns I list are Doom Space Marine rip-and-tear level. A .308 m700 BDL or box feed, a M1A are what I use. .357SIG P229 or a .45 Sig Sauer BDA.
Just remember to practice a lot at a range starting and 30 yards and so on, and perhaps learn how to reload if you expect to do this. Long-distance shooting is very zen, and required patience and focus, like a martial art. I've been shooting over 20 years and the secret is in the trigger pull (ease it with the PAD of your finger), and don't anticipate recoil, it is not gonna hurt you. Keep your focus on the target, inhale, slooowly let the trigger engage and done.
Oh, and do it some place remote if you plan on shooting a flying humanoid down (it's not advisable to shoot into the sky anyway unless it's a shotgun.)
