What's the origin of the sigil of the gateway? I know it's "the necronomicon symbol" but who came up with it?
I'm fairly certain Chambers and Lovecraft never drew it.

It was made up by whoever wrote the "Simon Necronomicon". It is, therefore, not canonical, same as Derleth's """"Elder Sign"""".
