The Library of Babel is an essentially infinite string of random text, where the text is generated based on it's ordinal position in the library. Because the text is both infinite and random, every possible combination of letters and punctuation in the english language resides in it somewhere.
In some obscure section of the library, there exists the complete works of Shakespear. In another section, there exists what really happened to Emelia Earhart... and in still others, there exists everything that DIDN'T happen to Emelia Earhart. Everything that has ever happened, everything that WILL ever happen, and everything that will NEVER happen, are all described somewhere in that digital library.
