That's not really how selection works, it's not because of glasses, all genetic defects are propagated in humans because most people don't die from them, and are able to go on and breed. Blind, deaf, midgets, etc, plenty of them still go on to have kids despite the fact that thousands of years ago they would have died and thus not passed on their genes.
