Dead Space 2 has a very memorable passages, like the nursery introduction, when you visit Ishimura spacecraft from the first game, and the first encounter with stalkers, and it's because the scenes are not built on cheap jump scares. 3 sadly has nothing like that, but the free floating through the space debris on the orbit of Tau Volantis is incredible and menacing in a different way. The music of free open space is also perfect.

DS3 had some memorable moments but overall it fell flat because they tried to make one of the few good horror games into CoD. Another favorite moment of mine was the first time you meet the enemies that became Necromorphs because they ate infected flesh, I forget what they're called but you see them while trying to get the arctic survival suit.
Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem
The 'sanity' meter (in addition to health and magic) really made this game unique, great story, interesting characters, and amazing atmosphere.

That's not really what I meant. Dead Space 2 is about jump scares, but also has a lot of good moments. If you can play it, I recommend The Last of Us. The game has amazing storytelling, the horror is rather implied than shown, and if you up the difficulty, it can be really stressful to play too.

While it depresses me to talk about it, I thought the Assassin's Creed games were so good, up until they turned to crap. The series had so much promise. I really loved the whole backstory about Templars and the mysterious shady corporation and mysterious artifacts and all that. I haven't played any of the games since Brotherhood. I kind of got tired of how repetitive the games got at that point, and apparently they got much, much worse from what I've read.
