It's not hard to believe considering the "government" or whoever interfered with the transmission had the technology to triangulate that callers position so quickly and temporarily shut down the station entirely. It's probably very simple for them to change someones voice to sound like the callers.

He's a really good actor, but what killed the authenticity for me was that, if I were in that situation, I'd be too paralyzed with fear to even form a coherent sentence, and so would a lot of people. He really rattled off some detailed information for someone who was so shaken up.

During that Fade to Black podcast, he said he had a whole scene planned that would make it seem like he'd been captured during the phone call. He had some props set up that he was going to knock together to make noise in order to give the desired impression. Apparently, though, the signal cutting out was completely real and he didn't intentionally do anything to make it happen. In fact, he performed his whole "capture" scene without realizing he was no longer on the air. So now there's some speculation that even though he was pretending, he unknowingly said things that were actually true, and he really was cut off by some shadowy organization that thought he was onto them.
I could swear there's a movie or something that deals with situation like that, where someone says something they think is bullshit as a joke but then gets picked up by some super-secret agency and they demand to know how he learned all those secrets.
