There is a vessel, let's call it Y, and it has trace amounts of two substances, call them A and B. The amount of A is just enough for a work, the amount of B is so trace that it may not affect a work at all, but it might.
Now, I have access to a catalyst, X, that has caused a powerful result when I worked it once before. It was by accident, but I have figured out how it works now. However, it has weakened significantly since last time, and it may not as effective.
So, I have to decide what to do with substance A, as it will “expire” in the vessel soon. I have thought of three things:

Alright, I'll be forthright and admit I haven't done a query like this before. That being said, let's begin.
I drew 3 cards, one for each of your options.
I will preface this with the fact that my intuition tells me you may wish to go with option 3, as strengthening your equipment is always nice.

I haven't been able to read time frames accurately, but I tried reading about the situation to see how I could help.
