So /x/ for thr next week and a half I'm staying around Houghton MI, and aparently the apartment Im staying at is haunted. The place is from the early 1800s and aparently used to be a brothel. Also one of the locals told me the guy who owned it axed his wife and buried her below the place. The place is hecka old and a little creeopy, but that's probably because its old. Anywho I havent experienced shit in the few days Ive been here. Anyone know if any other spooky places in the area or how I might come across spoops here ay?
I lived in Houghton and attended Michigan Tech. Now I'm in Traverse. Nothing spooky ever happened, though, sorry.

The U.P always sounded cool to me but I've never been. It's apparently fucking desolate, dude. Wolves, blizzards, large swathes of forested wilderness devoid of civilization. It's like the most black metal place in America.

UP anon here. I remember hearing a story about a light that never shuts off and can only be seen from standing in a certain spot. Anyone know what I'm talking about?
OP here, yeah I'm staying in Calumet, havent' noticed anything spooky about the apartment, though two locals I talked with today both said they've seen apparitions here. Aside from my spooky stay aparently the Theatre in Calumet is haunted, might be worth checking out.

Anyhow, the UP has a ton of haunted lighthouses and ghost towns. Copper Harbor is neat, but I've only been up that way in summer time.
Have you been to the Nahma Inn? That place is famous for spirits haunting that inn.

Used to vacation there as a kid. Loved it. Nothing spooky ever happened, but it seems like remote enough a region to foster some good stories, at least. Lot of ghost towns peppered throughout the peninsula, in the woods, as I understand it. Looking into unincorporated communities may be worth a shot.

Hard to be too spooky in the UP, everybody and everything is so nice up their if you did meet something spooky it most likely would help you on to your destination... But since you ask there are lots of old abandoned logging towns and mines, just dont go in the mines.
Paulding light is awesome; lots of evidence of vortices near viewing location. It's near watersmeet. Baraga had a huge mass murder of native Americans by French-Canadian soldiers, but not a lot of history of it available (drunk injun at the casino there told me) so the reservation is actually haunted. Lastly, the KFC in nought on has an all-you-can-eat buffet
Not a great story, but I once went to a local festival in the winter when I was up there. I think it was a lumberjack competition or horse pulling thing or something. In any case, one part of it was a pioneer historical reenactment. It was all pretty cool, especially this squat little hut with a "fur trapper" who told legends of the North Woods. So we're in there listening to him tell some stories, sitting around a fire, and he starts to tell us a story about wearwolves. Suddenly, a huge Native American guy rises up from where he's sitting and says, "He Lies!" as he's walking out. It was silent for a second and then the guy went on with his story. Stuck with me to this day.
I've lived in the UP my entire life, I live farther north than calumet. Keweenaw county. That's where the real shit happens. Check out the abandoned air force base if you can. Only creepy experience I've had is when I went fourwheeling with two friends, we lost track of the third person. We thought we found him in the bushes because something was moving around and mimicking us, but right when we went to go in the bushes the friend showed up from behind us on the trail. Scared the shit out of me, I've heard a lot of fucked up sounds in the night also. Lots of old stories of haunted shit from the mining era. I hear coyotes all the time, back in the day my friends and I chased a pack through the woods at 3 in the morning. My girlfriend has described seeing skinwalkers more than once, she grew up about 15 min away though. I use to hear screams in the woods a lot when I would camp, I didn't figure out it was mountain lions until recently. The woods around here will give you a very certain feeling. It will either be absolute peace, or a dreading feeling like you want to run for your life but you don't exactly know why. You can't experience any of this in the harsh winter right now so just get drunk like the rest of us do around here.
I've also seen the Paulding light, it's kind of silly. It's just something they hype up in Ripley's believe it or not. Takes a lot of squinting just to see, and if you walk up to it, it disappears. Probably just a reflection of something.
This place seems almost like a haven for some /x/ shit. Dogman sightijgs, ghosts in certain areas. It sucks because the winter snow has kinda fucked access to a lot of the woods, but any remote areas north of calumet sound especially worth checking out.
