This was pretty nice. Liked the ending. The old woman was pretty unsettling, too, in parts.

>>17227810
I really liked It Follows. A lot of /x/ seems to hate it, but whatever. Great soundtrack, wonderful aesthetic and good concept. It was pretty eerie in a few scenes. I watched it twice, and was just pleased that it was unlike any other horror film in recent memory in regards to its execution. It wasn't my favorite of all-time or anything like that, but it was refreshing.

>>
>>17228482
IT isn't horror so much as it is about paranoia and slow build up. It does so much that is just incredible

The rape scene, the ensuing paranoia and helplessness, Rosemary meeting the baby, her acceptance of it. Those key moments all build up to the baby so well that just the cradle itself and the thought of the baby inside of it becomes powerful.

We get a call-back to the rape scene when the eyes are mentioned, the baby has those same eyes. that's something we only saw for a moment but the rape scene was so good it stands out like a sore thumb and it's huge in how we imagine the baby.

You want it without the subtitles?

You'll need a spanish language streaming site.

Won some awards in Spain on release.

Plus the Exec Producer is Del Toro, So it does carry very well with the subtitles to English speaking audiences

Cannot Recommend it enough.

>>17228104
Kairo is a god-tier slow-burner from Japan, and I highly recommend it. First time I saw it I felt emotionally drained for a long time after. It isn't the most in-your-face, frightening film, but it lingers and depresses you. The same thing happened when I watched Lars von Trier's Antichrist.

Come on, anon. What about this wondrous scene?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BMOvUqZKmF4
>>
>>17230067
The Strangers had no reason to drag things on for so long they easily could've killed the couple multiple times throughout the entire movie, so they went through all this trouble terrorizing them all night "because you were home".. what? so nothing we saw before had anything to do with anything, it was a random attack? is that supposed to make it more scary?

We don't know anything about them and we don't know anything about the couple other than they're having trouble deciding if they're gonna get married. We've learned since the beginning of cinema that unmasking scenes are supposed to be dramatic or at least matter, The Strangers might as well have not showed their faces at all because WE DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THEM.

The best part of it is seeing Dennis for a few minutes until he gets blown away with a shot gun but even that sucks because WE DON'T KNOW WHO THIS GUY EVEN IS, I know the actor, but if I didn't why would I even give a shit about that guy they accidentally murdered?

The babadook rappresent all the human fears. In the end the mom can only repress it but she can' t eliminate them
>>
I'm surprised how many people are actually recommending babadook, for shame

The entire v/h/s series is on netflix right now and I'd say they're all worth a watch. Every movie has about 5 different unconnected segments that are basically short films in themselves, all directed by different people. The quality varies wildly but there's a few really really good ones in the mix, and you're bound to find one you really like. Plus the short film style lets the directors play around with some really interesting concepts that probably couldn't hold up an entire movie otherwise.

Hellraiser is fucking great. Anyone, watch the first 2, and then maybe watch the rest, but they aren't nearly as good as 1 and 2.

The Gate, 1987. One of my favorite 80's horror movies of all time. Saw it when I was like 7 or 8 at my grandma's house and it scared the living shit out of me at the time. Since all the characters are kids you'd think it's a kids movie.

Megan Is Missing is a fucking atrocious shitstain in the history of horror films and an overall dreadful fucking movie. The acting is whoreshit, the director and the writer clearly did minimal research and don't even know how to portray youth, and as a horror film it isnt scary or unsettling or atmospheric or suspenseful it's just boring. Surely users on /x/ actually have a somewhat acquired taste in horror films not just "wow found footage movie that was really scary and disturbing". It fucking sucks dicks.

Just because the subject is semi-topical maybe kinda, doesn't mean it's a good film, especially when the director astroturfs like a faggot and his grasp of social media and teens is borderline Steve Buscemi in 30 Rock.
