cicada 3301 is most likely just a gang of CSIII wiz kids who went to good colleges and read too many comic books and sci fi as kids and now want to create another circle jerk think tank.

Either that or it's all put together simply to confound the internet and the puzzles lead nowhere.
>>
This shit always creeps me out!

nothing to be scared of--it's just a puzzle. People from /x/ like to associate it with demons and fairy tales, but it's mainly computer programming, security information, literature, classical music, etc.

Technically neither of those shadows on the wall are true. They are metaphors or concepts in the Nietzchen-sense, of an unconveyable truth/image.

There is only one truth/reality, and we will never see it unless we all take psychedelics and cease to live in the world of constructs.

Google "Lighght"

In addition to being the name of an album, I've heard of this before, thanks to my cringeworthy obsession with VSauce.

"Lighght" is thought to be the shortest poem ever written, sort of. There was another mentioned in which some dude wrote the letter I with his fingerprint instead of a dot. That's not relevant though.

Maybe it has something to do with poetry, or prose of some sort? Any good limericks about cicadas?

no. lol I actually think the 3301 puzzles are kinda fun, the wordplay is cute. I'm not out here claiming that I have anything to contribute to solving the code puzzles and all that, but honestly their whole brand is kinda ridiculous imo.

And if you have a more realistic explanation as to what they actually are let's hear it sport.

"PGP is dead" is a bullshit meme. Unless people post evidence together with their claim, don't listen to them. They're shouting this stuff because of a mix of vague paranoia and magical thinking in regards to cryptography. It might be easy to chose the fatalistic option and believe PGP is broken, but if you research a bit, you'll find that it's just hot air.

it's the uneducated individuals trying to delude the 3301 puzzles in order to feel involved. PGP has a mathematical basis (cryptography). Even with a super computer, it would take you thousands of years to crack an encrypted file. Anything legitimate will have an official PGP attached to it. That's what we're looking for now in these new clues. Nothing has contained a key thus far--leaving us to believe it's fake.

4 monuments surround the old hippodrome's site in ahmet park
3 are obelisks 1 is a hexagonal mausoleum
Serpent/dragon obelisk is taken from temple of apollo. Apollo slayed dragon cleaving heavens from earth. Think oracle of delphi. Inner light.
Walled obelisk is ruined. Built by constantine VII to commemorate gramps Basil I victories. Need more research.
Obelisk of Thutmose III taken from temple of karnak in luxor egypt. Read closely about pharoahs renewal festival here. Erected by theodisius I, 69th roman emperor, think schisms, rome falls after the 69th. Interesting poem inscribed:
Though formerly I opposed resistance, I was ordered to obey the serene masters and to carry their palm, once the tyrants had been overcome. All things yield to Theodosius and to his everlasting descendants. This is true of me too – I was mastered and overcome in three times ten days and raised towards the upper air, undergovernorProculus.
Lastly, German Fountain. A gift from kaiser Wilhelm II to sultan hamid. Poems within, need to find.

Misc: obstigillate is made up. By roots it means "oppose restriction"
Obstruct injustice, obstruction creates darkness. Obelisks? Use the darkness as guide. Think expansion, the expanse expands

yes. otherwise it would be too easy to emulate a similar website and distract people---or worse yet---rip them off in some way. For example, the 33014048.co.nf (or 40483301.co.nf i forget the URL off the top of my head)re-routed followers to a bitcoin related transaction. This is such an obvious ploy to scam someone out of their money. For example, if there's a 3301.com/omgitsus with a PGP and I were to come along as a scammer and make 3301.com/omgltsus (using a lowercase l instead of an i on the word 'its') without a PGP key, I can stray people away from the original URL path and manipulate them in certain ways. This is what the 33014048.co.nf guy tried to do but was outed with his lack of PGP key---which he later added to the website in order to legitimize it.

it's the #1 rule as stated by the 3301 organization themselves. Sure, you can find interesting puzzles from stuff that has no PGP key--but it's not legitimate. As long as you're aware that you're not working on 'official' material, it's no biggie. But if you start getting prompted to play around with bitcoins and the like, avoid it like the plague.

With a sufficiently powerful quantum computer it might be possible though (see Shor's algorithm). Quantum computing reminds me of AI though, lots of hype and not much tangible. I'd take it all with a grain of salt. On that note, djb held a pretty good talk about Post-quantum cryptography at the 32c3, it was very interesting, and free of the usual quantum-computing bullshit.

BM-2cW5qm7K6R8xhoFXuk9ifNARQfeKNFTNQ9 and BM-2cUaQDUHhziLTkzisFXBPA7qfSeDY11Fh3 from http://pastebin.com/Za36zDAu could be potential address used with the communication protocol Bitmessage (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bitmessage). Someone want to validate my claim?

The PGP people fail to take into account that Paris and San B have happened. NSA is all over PGP. In fact, PGP is out of favor.

How? How exactly could the NSA, or anyone else possibly be "al over" PGP? It's just fucking algorithms, no servers, nothing tangible to actually hack.

PGP is owned by a private company with private interests and private servers and private code.

Has anyone not seen the injection,of not only code in 'secured' communications this past year, as well as the amount of laws passed that allow govt to access any records they choose?

Anyone who believes PGP is worth a damn is completely irresponsible, and I would never trust you with any sensitive information.

Checked out the Bitmessage protocol myself. BM-2cW5qm7K6R8xhoFXuk9ifNARQfeKNFTNQ9 is an invalid address, whereas BM-2cVPdVd6GkYZmLJm3uyAzbW1a5CaCFarp6 is valid.

I tried sending a message with LIGHGHT to the valid address, which has been sent and is waiting for acknowledgement. I expected 3301 to have these messages checked automatically by some running process, so I think the message probably wasn't the correct one.

>Bitmessage has gained a reputation for being out of reach of warrantless wiretapping conducted by the National Security Agency (NSA) due to the decentralized nature of the protocol, and its encryption being difficult to crack. As a result, downloads of the Bitmessage program increased fivefold during June 2013 after news broke of classified email surveillance activities conducted by the NSA.

Is it me or has pi been a heavily referenced theme by Cicada? Every clue that i've seen and investigated so far has had a reference to it in some way, even going as far as a countdown to Pi day. Has anyone found out its significance to cicada yet?

An interesting thing about pi is first of all that it goes on forever, and therefore you should be able to find any number in it.

Just a thought: at what position does the prime '3301' first appear when calculating pi?

JUST coming back to check on you this thread and I noticed another message came through on the BitMessage 3301 Chan... I haven't tried sending any messages yet haha part of me is a bit too scared to get a reply back haha

I checked out the link in the video... another awesome video :-D

So far:

H = H

>PGP is owned by a private company with private interests and private servers and private code.
That's just "PGP", the program. Everyone talking about PGP normally means the OpenPGP standard, which has lots of open source implementations.
>Has anyone not seen the injection,of not only code in 'secured' communications this past year
Can you even name the protocols affected? The specific exploits?
> as well as the amount of laws passed that allow govt to access any records they choose?
That's literally an everlasting struggle. That's why encryption software is of so much importance.
>Anyone who believes PGP is worth a damn is completely irresponsible, and I would never trust you with any sensitive information.
Well, and you couldn't code your way out of a paper bag I say.

I remember reading something in a DMT thread here, on /x/ just an hour ago... I'll quote:
>Both. The universe is a hologram. A part of a hologram always contains the whole picture. That means that theoretically just one brain contains the entire universe. Just like every cell of your body contains your DNA.

Now that I think about it, your words make perfect sense:
>it goes on forever, and therefore you should be able to find any number in it.

Add in the fact that literally everything in existance, from the smallest known to us particles, to the largest known to us objects and clusters of objects in the universe are bound to circles/cycles/sinusoids = in other words, to PI.

So... Pi is literally the GOD. The Alpha, the Omega, the beginning and the end. The holy trinity is literally the '3.'.

Holy fuck.

In the discord group they're discussing maybe the keys are Notes in music. Maybe the video again?
>>
>>17173926
Great, I am guessing wibrati should be vibrati, which according to the wiktionary is: "masculine plural of vibrato".

So the clue is obviously something to do with vibrato, a form of pulsating pitch used in vocal music. Also we need to look for 'R' in this vibrato by using our ears and not eyes. Finally under 'the burned temple' lies one clue.

My guess is the music that was in the video is needed for us to solve this. I'm going to try and analyze the sound date used in the video.
>>
>>17173961
Agreed. Wibrati = Vibrati (A form of Vibrar [Italian for vibrate]). Like music?
>>
>>17173973
I think that we have to get under the burned temple (i.e. the Hagia Sophia) where there will be a recording playing or some other kind of message

>>
>>17173952
in the end of it all
vibrations is more understandable (vibrati -> vibrato -> etymology) (to vibrate/quiver)

and some sort of temple has some sort of clue to the puzzle (Hagia Sophia?)

I think it has something to do with strings (either notes or something else but most likely notes)
