i know these stories aren't TOO spooky but i figured i'd contribute to the thread instead of just lurking.
i live in a relatively small town in central NJ. both of my parents are from the next town over, so i didn't really know any history about the town until fairly recently.
through the mother of a high school friend of mine who has lived in our town her entire life, i found out that in the early 70s, a girl named susan was reading in a clearing in the woods while walking her dog and went missing. her dog was found with the leash cut, but searches for susan were fruitless. 10 or so months later, her body was found naked and decomposed in the woods (dental records confirmed). no one was ever charged. i guess what makes it 2spooky4me is that the woods where it happened are within walking distance from my house.
i asked my parents if they had heard about the murder and they said no, but my mother said an aquaintance of hers was murdered in a similar way. i did a bit of research and found out that her murderer's mother lived in a trailer park that backed up against the woods susan was found in. there were apparently at least one other girl who was murdered in the same area, so it seems that it was a serial killer. if it's true i guess that answers what happened to susan, though...
other than that, we've apparently had two bodies turn up in a well, at least two different cases of parenticide (one of which done by a sword of all things, and in the other case the victims were buried in the woods by another friend of mine's house), and a woman was shot in the face in a convenience store down the road from my house.

It's told through a girl who's father would always take her brother up to his room and beat him until one day she found out he was actually raping him and only stopped because the son got big enough to turn the tables on him. For my part, I expect that in years to come, when this site is long gone, I'll look back with nostalgia. And I'll be able to dig out my old external hard drive and look through screencaps and reaction images, things I'd completely forgotten that I saved.

NJ senpai, Hopatcong citizen up here. We have these woods dubbed "Devils Footprint". The legend has it that if you were up on a mountain somewhere or flying, the massive rocks in the woods look like a footprint. There's all types of creepy shit back there. Anyway, I'll tell you about some of them.
1. "The love shacks". Supposedly, someone built shacks in the middle of the fucking woods for no reason other than for kids to have sex in them. If you go back over there you'll find an occasional meth needle and a ton of empty condom wrappers. Anyway, some people have been said that the Hobo's spy on anyone going into them. Not that creepy but it adds to the legends.
2. If you travel deep into them, like I have plenty of times, you'll come across a house. It always has a fucking fire going on in it, because the chimney is always smoking. It literally looks like somebody just said "fuck it nigga im building a house here". It is made out of brick and the windows always have shades covering what's inside. Anyway, if you walk around the house, there will be a fucking massive cemetery. Yep, a fucking cemetery with graveheads and everything. So what everybody thinks is that this fucking guy is a recluse and either buries nothing, dead family members, or something else. It's really fucking strange due to the fact that if you go in the winter with snow on the ground, you'll find millions of footprints around the graves.
3. There is a place at sort of the entrance called the Hobo's camp. You'll find a foundation for yet another recluses house, but with scattered matresses everywhere. There is a ton of weird shit over there, including mortar shells and all types of weird fucking shit. If you go during the night you're more than likely going to find a Hobo that will attempt to rob you.
My first time ever going into the woods we found a deer that was hung by a noose with its legs chopped off. You hear a shit ton of creepy fucking sounds out there too.
