This guy and other commenters indicate that the lid of the water tank was hinged. Therefore, it could easily have closed behind her. Nevertheless, I would not rule out murder. I really wish they had analyzed that rape kit. Sadly, I think that suicide fits the story too well in some ways...but maybe not. It is strange that she was out buying books for her family at a nearby bookstore earlier that week if she had planned to kill herself...but maybe she hadn't planned on killing herself at that time, and instead had only spontaneously decided to do so. But I think it's entirely conceivable that she was murdered. It's quite plausible.

I know there's a lot weirder stuff than that, the TB kit called Lam/Elisa used nearby, the Cecil hotel being the last place the Black Dahlia was seen and the remake of Dark Water with the name Cecilia and Jennifer Connelly who was set to play the Black Dahlia before it was made. Maybe she was led by the spirits or something but I doubt it.
