i went down that road, overlighting. i had it all, even an einstein with all the ridiculous 84 inch PLM's, gridded softboxes, tons of triggers, other flashes, you name it i was strobin' it.
eventually i just went back to one light.
the only thing worse than underlighting is overlighting.

it's a hard lesson i had to learn: even the best models look like shit unless you're finding a way to expose them a little more than normal when it comes to skin tones.
to be quite honest family, i would have just cropped that photo in camera to above the knees. the above ankle cutoff is shitty and should be avoided, there's one of those body cutoff pics that floats around /p/, you know what i mean.
if i had been in this photographers shoes i would have simply had a larger light coverage on the model and shot for full body that would have lit the lower legs just as well as the rest of her.
it's a potential 8/10 photo that is a 7/10 as presented.

man i hate that term. a fucking piece of cardboard with tin foil on it is a 'bounce card'. whoever coined that term is on up there with 'california sunbounce'.
as for why i went back to one light it's because using the simple principle of inverse square law you can get a much more even light falloff using the basic laws of physics than having to use a 2nd light or a fill/bounce/reflector/whatever.
instead of say putting a shoot through or reflective umbrella 4 feet from the model say 2 feet above head like your typical one light for dramatic shadows, light her 8 feet away from a more centric point, either quadruple the light output or quadruple the ISO and decrease the aperture 4x to account for it, or mix and match accordingly depending on your ambient light situation.
if you want to shoot shallow dof because you still think that makes you cool for the art kiddies then do whatever necessary. the sooner a photographer gets over shallow DOF the better. if the eyes aren't sharp it goes into the fucking trash, but that's a whole 'nother thread, and i've seen the close up's of isabella.
