Not a spooky story, but nonetheless a spooky thought.
You're in your room, hypothetically it occurs to you that something is out to get you, and is looking over your shoulder right now. Paranoia sets in, you jump back to a position from which you can see the entire room with your back to the wall. Nothing is there. All is well, right?
Not right. Have you ever seen behind a wall? Generally internal home walls aren't solid brick/block, they're wooden supports with fairly thin covering and a good amount of free space (varies obviously). Depending on the nature of the paranormal thing you're trying to avoid, it's quite possible that it can either hide in the walls and watch through small holes, or cut out a section of wall covering and wait behind it. When you back against the wall to look around the room... well, it's already too late.
The idea that our walls provide protection or security is an illusion.

Well, turns out that my Mom saw him too, but at distance. More than one time. And we did know him when he was alive.
That was a construction worker at my house, but he was murdered by a drug dealer and his father. He wanted to date his daughter, but surprise, he don't approved the career of her "boyfriend". He was murdered at noon, in a street. A machete in his throat, his head was almost separated from his body. He was married and had 4 children. My parents got pity of her situation and she begun to work as a maid at the house. My mother said that sometimes she was speaking alone in the garden. She guessed that she was only creating 'stories' in her mind about the dead husband. But she wasn't and i started to think that a) maybe spirits do exist ou b) the mind can create wonderfull things. Was he a a tulpa or a spirit? I just don't know.

it was actually the tattoo number of my k9 that wasn't a part of that story. I just changed the last number. I didn't even do it purposely, I just made a typo and posted before I caught it and then left it like that.
I have problems sleeping so I started to type it out and people wanted more.

Okay so my family went over to Washington for family vacation. It was for the sole purpose of bonding. So here we are at my aunt's house. Everyone else is practically asleep besides me, my sister, and my aunt. So the topic of paranormal activities pops up. My aunt decides to go first and oh my god, this changed the whole night entirely.
So at the time she lived in Alaska in a town house. She was just minding her own business when she saw the daughter of a neighbor walking on the sidewalk in front of her complex. The daughter is with a friend and so she thinks that all is well until she sees something. The friend is panicking because the daughter had fallen face flat onto the concrete. My aunt calls my uncle quickly to go out and bring her to her complex. So my aunt and my uncle arrive thinking that all they had to do was drop the daughter off but no. The lady invites them in and something is off. The lady goes reaching for a bottle.It's holy water. The lady starts splashing the water onto her daughter and she starts screeching in pain. The screams fill practically the whole neighborhood. The lady is screaming towards the body "GET OUT, GET OUT". Being who they were, they told the lady that they should take her daughter to the hospital.
So they arrive at the hospital and they get the girl into a wheelchair. My aunt is wheeling her in to go see the doctor. On the way to the room, the girl wakes up and looks up at my aunt, grabs her tightly by the wrist and says in a demonic voice, "I'M GOING TO FIND YOU AND I'M GOING TO KILL YOU." My aunt is now trembling in fear.
There was nothing wrong physically or mentally with the girl. She was possessed.
Now my aunt finishes the story. Of course my sister and I are terrified by the story and as we decide to go to sleep, I turn my head and I see a girl floating in the air in a nightgown with long black hair. We make eye contact and she has red eyes and her face seems to near mine and in a screeching noise, she disappears.

I'll bite with a story from about 5 years ago when i was 20 in rural wales. Im shit at greentext so just deal with it.

Hey /x/, I am on the hunt for a particular creepypasta, I haven't read it or seen it in at least two years but I had forgotten about it until recently. In the pasta it is about this guy that wakes up in a cold, endless white void. Some mysterious force gives him items to stay warm, and build a house and ither things while he is sleeping, eventually other people appear and he gets a family, forms a community, has kids, he's generally content. At some point he leaves his commune, and the story ends with a confrontation with a character known as "King" or "The King" or something along those lines, and the character wakes up in the void in a similar manner that the story began.

I'm not him, but I've been around for a while, off and on.
Stories were usually written out instead of being written in greentext format. We still had rp-fags, but they were usually more interesting and tried harder. We were constantly raided by /b/ and shitposters and the mods hardly ever gave a fuck, at least now they'll try. New Age claptrap wasn't as prevalent. Slender Man and Marble Hornets were still new and hadn't been ruined by edgy kids and their le epik memes. And speaking of which, you could actually have serious threads about aliens without them getting spammed to death, though that doesn't mean they were always good.
Basically, it was a mixed bag, not necessarily better or worse. We went through good times and bad.

"I was hiding in the woods in my human disguise practising my English. Our only way to study the human language was through radio broadcasts our spaceships had picked up. It wasn't much, but you work with what you have. I was practising to by copying how the humans on the radio spoke.
My first contact with the humans came unexpectedly. I was practising what I would say to the humans when I made first contact when two human larvae appeared and came out of the woods. I attempted contact. They spoke in a dialect I was unfamiliar with that sounded like a drawn out shreek. They then moved away quickly. I assumed they were attempting to entice me to play a game of "hide of the seeking" with me. I decided to play along and chased after them hopeful that I'd gain their trust.
I almost lost them but then found them. They were making noises in a short scruffy plant. I attempted contact again and made noises like them while crawling in to join them in the bush.
They attempted to communicate again with that shreeking noise they make. I believe it was to express they were tired of the game, for they then quickly left the bush. They were so happy, they made loud squealing noises of joy all the way back to their dwelling.

Congratulations, comrade. Another game that the humans love to play is called "Peek and Boo". Wait until their sun has set completely and the whole area is dark. Find a human dwelling and peek through the transparent panels known as "windows". It works best if they are already preparing to go into slumber mode in their sleep boxes. They love this game and will frequently hide under their cloth coverings, quivering with excitement, then occasionally try to peer back at you without you noticing. You can also win bonus points if you have been standing outside a window with a covering over it and that human removes the covering and catches sight of you when they are unprepared to play the game. This also makes them squeal with joy and attempt to play the "Hide of the Seeking" game with you next.

You have to go to woods where people actively tay out of them. Woods where people feel something in their gut that makes them not want to go in and stay away.
