I've had this feel. It's interesting that you mention volcanos, because the early Earth was covered with them. My vision had Gaia arriving on Chthon. The Greeks distinquished Chthon - the rocks - from Gaia - the organisms growing on her.
Gaia landed upon Chthon, and expelled her egg-seed upon it's face. This is remembered in Greek mythology as Uranus being castrated, and his testicles transformed into Aphrodite. Uranus was a Titan, and according to Orphism everyone had arisen from the blood of Titans - we were allegedly something better than a Titan, trapped in one's body.
