Is the cannibal sickness a myth? It seems like something the government would lie about to prevent people from eating eachother. Cannabalism goes back to the early tribes. Is it really as bad as they say?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kuru_(disease)

It's a type of spongiform encephalitis caused by prions. It's the same as Mad Cow disease or Scrapie in sheep. There are five known types that affect humans, Kuru being the one most known for transmission via cannibalism. The spread is also primarily through the brain tissue, as researchers noted the tribe's females (who ate the less desirable parts of the body, including the brain) were 8 times more likely to contract the disease than the males.

And yes - prion diseases really are as bad as they say. It's like pouring salt on a slug, where the slug is your brain tissue. Except to make the analogy accurate, imagine when you put just a couple grains of salt on the slug it not only dissolves the tissue but the tissue creates more salt.

>Once the prion is transmitted, the defective proteins invade the brain and are produced in a self-sustaining feedback loop.
>The CJD prion is dangerous because it promotes refolding of native proteins into the diseased state. The number of misfolded protein molecules will increase exponentially and the process leads to a large quantity of insoluble protein in affected cells.

Yes, kuru is a government plot to keep you from realizing how delicious human meat is and setting off an apocalyptic spiral of cannibalistic hedonism. There is nothing else keeping humanity from devolving onto a cannibalism induced extinction.

Cannibalism makes wendigos

Don't do it kids

Cannabilism is a mechanism by which Kuru can spread, if you happen to eat the infected individual.

It is not something caused because of cannabilism itself, as a consequence.

Consider HIV and gay sex. Gay sex is a mechanism by which HIV can spread from an infected person to an uninfected person. If two uninfected people have gay sex, they're never going to cause HIV to happen spontaneously because they have gay sex. HIV is not "God's cure for fags."

Human flesh probly tastes quite bad anyway, atleast meat/fish, and the like-eaters. Life-time veggie might be slightly more tastful..
>>
>>17818173
That's not a good comparison considering anyone can get HIV from an infected person and I'd doesn't always have to be through sex. Use a better comparison
>>

Alright.

Kuru is like HIV.

You can get HIV from someone else by having unprotected sex with an infected person or by sharing a needle with them.

And you can get Kuru by eating an infected person.

Cannabalism is bad, our "experiments" on beef production have made it apparent what happens.

The tribes that used to do it, did it to protect the people from animal rebirth. We all know that there's no diff. between human and animal really, so no need to chomp on grandpa's dessicated cock,

The guys who crashed in the Andes are still alive.

Just you wait until the first major rice crop failure. They'll start eating each other like they eat dogs now. It'll just be a matter of time before this hits the first world countries.

so you can eat someone without problems, if they don't have kuru?
>>
I missed /x/9
>>
>>17818120
well south seas people eat a lot of human meat and they never turned into wendigos, maybe Injuns just taste really good and they don't want anyone to know...
>>
>>17820906
No. As people age, their proteins tend to misfold, and acquire genetic errors. Aging is really just genetic damage, a subset of which is the acquisition of prions.

It's more accurate to say you can eat someone of the same species without health problems if they're children. Gorillas do this all the time--after they take control of a pack, the alpha will occasionally eat everyone's babies, and then make news ones from his DNA instead.

http://www.berggorilla.org/en/gorillas/general/social-life/how-does-a-gorilla-father-treat-his-children/

>On the other hand, silverbacks have been observed to deliberately kill babies - especially in mountain gorillas. Usually this is the case after a female transferred to another male together with her baby or if a new leading male takes over. This behaviour, called infanticide, is interpreted as a means to shorten the time until the baby's mother becomes fertile again and the new male can sire his own offspring with her.
>>
That would explain the green inferno movie. I think they all had that sickness
>>
>>17821675
>if they're children
huh, explains child sacrifice
>>
>>17821889
Exactly. Latent instincts in humans, triggered by similar DNA from Gorillas which causes them to feel a desire to kill and eat babies. There might be some reptilian factors involved as well. I think I seem to recall reptiles having a habit of eating their young, if they become separated from the brood.

We taste exactly like the only other animal that eats like we do, pork.
>>
Humans taste more lime chicken than pork
