This new guy started work last week, his name's Geoff and he's OK, I guess, but he's always kinda dirty and he smells fucking terrible. I complained to my boss (and that's kind of a feat, I mean, deli / butcher shops never smell really lovely, but I grew up around this stuff since my dad was a hunter) and he kinda gave me this weak shrug and said the kid was a good worker and a quick study. We just lost this kid named Tom to college.
I dunno, over the last few days I've caught him doing some pretty creepy shit. This hunter had come in with three deer carcasses he wanted processed into venison and some jerky and they were pretty, uh, fresh. I swear, right hand on the bible, left hand on my mom's tits that this kid was eating parts of the dead deer while stripping it.
He always wears long sleeves too, even though it's the summer. He doesn't EVER talk. I try to ignore it since I can just stay up front at the counter.
Oh, one time my mom said a ghost felt her up in the shower, too.

I tried convincing myself it was some sort of radio interference, as one of my old phones had an fm radio built in but needed headphones plugged in so it could use the wire as an antenna, but there's nothing to lock onto a single frequency of radio waves in just regular old headphones so there's no chance of having any intelligible sound coming out of unplugged headphones like that, I'm 19 and still scared of the dark because of stuff like this

I think it's kind of cool, personally. All the weird and fantastic shit that happens with technology when it malfunctions or we find new uses for it or side effects from it. I'm twenty-five and I'm scared of the dark, too, but only because I live in a somewhat dangerous area. We gotta learn to take the weird shit for what it is - interesting experiences. Let me preface this one by saying that a majority of my most tangible experiences with the supernatural have involved deer. I saw a skinwalker once, but our skinwalkers aren't the ones out in the desert. Ours are actual humans, according to legend. Humans who use animal skins and parts to become that animal or gain it's abilities. The one I saw happened to take the form of a deer. I've had deer show me the way home when I got lost in the woods, had an existential crisis over sitting with a dying deer that my neighbor shot with a bow, etc.
So anyway, one morning when I was about fourteen, I was sneaking out to the front porch to have a cigarette before school without mom catching me, but when I opened the door, there were about a half-dozen deer in a semi-circle around the porch just staring at me. I thought they'd startle when I opened the screen door, but they just kept looking at me. I took a couple steps out into the porch and made to get my lighter and smokes out of by pocket, but the deer started to walk toward me. I wasn't super scared or anything, but I did say "not dealing with this shit right now," and went back inside.
When I came out to go to the bus stop half an hour later, they were all gone, tracks and all.

This happened about two years ago, maybe a little longer. I was dealing with a friend who was losing her mind and trying to convince her to seek therapy.
We would take long walks in the woods and just talk. She would spout crazy nonsense about vampires and demons and other dumb shit that I knew was just in her head, but I listened and kinda played along a little so she could eventually get to a therapist.
As we're taking one of my favorite trails in the area, we spotted two deer in the distance. We stop and just watch. One is looking directly at us, the other is munching on some grass or something. My friend starts talking about how they're fucking magical creatures, but not in that "nature is so beautiful" way. The one looking at us bumps it's nose into the other's neck and it looks up at us, too. They both tilt their heads back and I swear it felt like the gesture meant "I feel your pain," and they walked off until we couldn't see them anymore, my friend babbling all the while.
Maybe not supernatural, but I've always felt a weird, almost sacred connection with deer, and this event strikes me as funny. I really needed a boost like that when I was dealing with someone who though she was dating a werewolf and that slenderman was real.

I downloaded that stupid ghost radar app a while back and was playing with it in the apartment I lived in before this one. My neighbors where the sweetest little Mexican couple, which is important to this tale.
I ask if there's anyone there and get a yes from the dumb thing. I ask it's name, instead it says "Mexicans." I asked it to explain, to which it said "bad." I asked it if it didn't like Mexicans, and it said "yes," followed in rapid succession by "Mexicans," "bad," and "go." No matter what else I asked, it just said "Mexicans" and "bad." So, either the app creators don't like Mexicans, or I picked up a racist ghost.
