I'm planing on upgrading my paperweight taking the Superb model in http://www.logicalincrements.com/ as a base.

The only parts I'll keep from my current set up are:

-The power supply, Thermaltake Smart 750w Bronze (http://www.thermaltakeusa.com/products-model.aspx?id=C_00001977)
-2 HDD one 2TB and other 500GB, both SATA
-and The tower, Overseer RX-I Thermaltake (http://www.thermaltake.com/products-model.aspx?id=c_00001803)

I'll be getting (*warning spanish links incoming):

-Sapphire Radeon Nitro R9 380 (http://articulo.mercadolibre.com.ar/MLA-610394186-placa-de-video-sapphire-radeon-nitro-r9-380-4g-w-back-plate-_JM), which I assume is the same as the one reccomended by Logical Increments (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125836&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-LogicalIncrements.com%20Inc-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10440897&PID=5961731&SID=0).
-CPU Intel Core I3 6100 3.7ghz Skylake (http://articulo.mercadolibre.com.ar/MLA-613289097-micro-procesador-intel-core-i3-6100-37ghz-6ta-gene-skylake-_JM), don't know what is Skylake.
-Noctua L-type CPU Cooler [NH-l9] (http://articulo.mercadolibre.com.ar/MLA-618844642-noctua-l-type-premium-quiet-cpu-cooler-retail-cooling-nh-l9-_JM), another that I'm not sure if it its the same.
-Motherboard Msi Z170a (http://articulo.mercadolibre.com.ar/MLA-621366490-motherboard-gamer-msi-z170a-pc-mate-ddr4-intel-1151-i7-i5-hd-_JM), which hopefully is the same MSI Z170A SLI that LI reccomends.
-2x4GB Ddr4 2133Mhz Kingstone Ram (http://articulo.mercadolibre.com.ar/MLA-616256223-memoria-ram-kingston-ddr4-4gb-2133-mhz-tienda-oficial-_JM).
-SSD 120gb Kingston V300 (http://articulo.mercadolibre.com.ar/MLA-620807928-disco-ssd-120gb-kingston-v300-nuevos-local-gtia-_JM).

As you can see all this different names confuse me and I don't know if I'm buying the right thing, also, so any help would be appreciated.

Scrap the AMD GPU, go with Nvidia. Also, upgrade the RAM and storage. And if you have any extra money, I do recommend upgrading the CPU and CPU cooling while you're at it.
>>
Z170 (Socket LGA1151) motherboards use Skylake processors. The i3-6100 is a Skylake processor and the MSI motherboard is Z170 so you're good. I wish you would get an i5 processor, if you can afford it.

The CPU cooler is nice, but not absolutely necessary, as the i3 will come with a cooler. I would rather have an i5 processor with a stock cooler than an i3 with a nice cooler.

8GB RAM is fine, for now.

The SSD is fine. I prefer Samsung or Crucial.

The video card is fine. I prefer Nvidia.

I agree with the RAM portion here. 8gb of ram is okay but it isn't too much more expensive to just get 16gb. It will go along way as well.

Neither a fan of Amd nor Nvidia but the physics thing sound nice so I don't mind considering it, any suggestion at the ~230 range?

Maybe I'll buy 1x 8GB Ram now so I can add another at a later date since the budget is considerable as it is.

If I leave the cooler I can go for an i5 but, is it really a good idea?

If you get a very powerful GPU someday, the processor can bottleneck and give you low we frames than you should be getting. Maybe you don't need it right now, but you definitely will soon.

OP amd just announced last night their new RX 480 GPU's will be hitting store shelves June 29th for $199 usd. Do NOT buy a 380 for the same price now. This is expected to perform like the current Fury Nano card for 2 ben franklins.

Oops, I also forgot to mention, when talking about computer parts online, you can usually just say the name of the part, don't have to link to it. I.e when you said sapphire nitro r9 380, I knew which part you were talking about, and if I didn't, I could google it.

Also don't buy that noctua cpu cooler if you don't plan on overclocking. The cpu will come with a free heatsink/fan that you can use. Will give fine temps, if be slightly loud. If you reallllllly can't stand a loud cpu fan, get a hyper 212 evo or something like it for $30 US.

The build looks fine otherwise for the most part. The 120gb SSD will be a little hard to work with IMO but if you can live with just using it as a boot drive, should be fine. I have a 250gb drive and love it.

I posted in another PC thread a few days ago. I thought I fixed my issue but it's still happening.

Basically I keep having intermittent freezing / restarts on my computer. It actually froze a couple of times when installing Windows for the first time. I've run every single diagnostic I can think of, no dice. Memtest 64, Windows memory diagnostic, chkdsk, virus scans, updated ALL drivers in the system, cleaning out old ones. Every test has come up clean.

I opened the case the other day, saw a loose Sata data cable, fixed it. I thought that was the cause. Nope. Still happening. Reseated most of the components. Made sure all plugs are secure. Everything is running exactly the same as before i did that.
Anybody have any Idea what the cause could be?

Thanks but I'm not really into mac.

>>132533
Well, I'm most definitely keeping an eye on that!

>>132535

I see, for me is still quite confusing as they all have similar names.

For the Cpu I'll go for the i5 then, as I'm not planing on overclocking just yet.

And the SSD would be for booting and maybe whatever game I'll be playing the most. Not sure if I'll buy it though.

Thanks you all for the help!

>>132580
Sorry pal, can't help you with that. Sounds like a hard drive problem to me though.

*Sorry I meant hardware.
