I watched this one old B-movie on the sci-fi channel years ago. I can't remember the name but it involved the aftermath of a nuclear war and these people hold up in some sort of cabin but they get attacked by mutated creatures over the course of the movie. Does anyone know what i'm talking about?

Personally I was fine with the lights making it suddenly visible, but I'm still annoyed at how they make the main guy just happen to be in the city at the same time as the monster.
They could easily have made it a 'you were there when it first woke up soldier so you're going with it' situation, but they just made it a coincidence.

To be fair, this is a common issue, not an issue of movies but of people who watch movies.
People always complain about characters in a movie not acting appropriately, realistically or sanely, but let's be honest, how often do people in real life act like that during a time of crisis or when you have to make quick decisions/are scared/don't know what to do?
I'm pretty sure a lot of people would be caught by curiosity alone. Horror movies usually portrait people in a much more realistic light than films that actually aim to built "smarter" or "more realistic" characters. Horror movie characters are quite realistic, when you think about it.

That scene is supposed to imply how fucked they were, and how this threat was huge and imposing so there was no hope left.
Though, what we know from the ending the military probably just shot a missile or two at it and it died. Because, really, a lot of creatures are dangerous and scary but they all go down to conventional weapons just like any Earth animal.

No, it's bad writing / directing. No sane person would exit a car, unarmed, at night, on an isolated road, after hitting a strange creature. What if it was a bear or other wild animal?
As for normal curiosity, t would have been better if they had stayed in the car, perhaps backed up to see what it was. The creature would've attacked anyway.

Said, "if Ray had access to the digital tech today he would love it and used it extensively" and when asked about it Ray said something along the lines of "No I would never use CGI, there is no love or care involved I would prefer to always use practical effects"
