What the fuck happened to the japanese variety/game show thread?
Looks like it was deleted. It didn't die by itself.
https://desustorage.org/wsg/thread/913957/
That was my fault. Clicked the wrong button. I apologize.
>>946594
Ah. OK. Cool to know there's nothing wrong with game show threads.
But still, MODS = FAGS.
Anyway, have some Shiorin.
>>946583
Less other crap, more Gaki no Tsukai. This year's Batsu is hilarious.
It's so surprising that of all the 5, Tsukitei is the only one whose humor is actually improving over time.
Cocorico were always the helpers, and Downtown has been getting worse year after year.
>>947219
Part 7 of the latest batsu game was brutal for him though.
>>947231
The Joint Liability?
>>947231
But I mean overall, not just in the Gaki no Tsukai series. As a comedian, he improved the most.
Part 8 is out
>>948454

Thanks for the heads up, anon. By the way, do you know where's part 1? Dolores only has 2-8.

>>946578
Is Japanese tv truly this retarded?
>>948528
Not as much as the CW. Not by far.
But, yeah. Japanese variety is widely known to disregard the well-being of the comedians/idols/tarentos that take part in it, all for a cheap laugh. Which is nothing short of great fun.
This year was a good Batsu
>>947219
I wouldn't say worse, just more laid back nowadays. They've become the grumpy old men, giving people like Hosei more opportunities to show off. Hamada has really mellowed, but Matsumoto still has a few zingers now and then.
>>946588
man fuck momochi
>>948526
That last one, you owe me a new set of sides
>>948793
Ok so what are these and where can I watch?
>>948969
teamgaki.com subs the recent new year's batsus. This is from last month's special. They do the subs in 10 part chunks, currently at part 8.
>>948526
shit man poor Yamasaki
>>946578
Man this batsu game was my most favourite one
>>946588
Wtf dude just drags her around like a toy. Where do I get one?
>>948454
i'm so glad they chose to slap someone else other than yamasaki this year, i mean, i know it's his character to be bullied, but it became so boring by now. i'm generally in favor of changing the patterns to spice things up, but this one was needed the most
>>949032
Hamada really has mellowed in his old age. When's the last time he's gone over the edge like that? His acting always used to border on too real. I think the other 3 are at the age now where he feels he no longer needs to berate them anymore.
>>948984
Thanks anon!
>>949042
both of them are getting too old
>>949042

Go grab the batch torrent for the show on /t/. Has all the major batsus as well as some of their other skits like Absolutely Tasty and their Kiki taste contests. Also Youtube has a bunch of clips too.
>>949681
Just look up Downtown on wikipedia.
These guys have been on the top of the comedy world from the late 80's up to a few years ago. It's easy to recognize them as much it is easy to recognize Beat Takeshi. They are just famous and go back a long way.

>>949042
i think i read somewhere that this was supposed to be a gag but he just sort of over did it
>>953852
They seem to be going out of bullets gardually as they age, which is natural.
The Batsu game is a sure thing to get viewers tho and are always entertaining, apart from the japanese variety guests which I have no idea of who they are.
>>949032
what the hell is the context for this?
>>953933
Tanaka messes up his lines whilst doing a bit, Hamada gets 'mad' at him for ruining the show, attacks him and then gets dragged off. Just as Tanaka starts crying thinking he has genuinely fucked up, everyone comes back on laughing to tell him it was all a joke.
Being Tanaka is suffering.
>>946578
Oh man, that's 24 hour tag! I remember watching this fucking years ago, holy shit.
Wheres the GCCX?
>>954197
>>954323
gotta put subs
>>949681
They're basically THE Japanese comedians. Unfortunately Japan has effectively squelched out all of the people that would be willing to translate for any other shows, so the scene is pretty much dead to the point that there's not even a solid hosting site anymore. Gaki/Downtown has TeamGaki who churns things out where they can. If they stop that'd pretty much be it for translated variety outside of the occasional one from godzillaradio. If you weren't around before 2012, you missed a lot of videos and there's a lot of videos that got translated and wiped and no one re-posted anywhere. (I really want to see revengers or black mayo on london hearts again, but it seems they went away never to return)
>>954331
You mean, except for idol stuff.
Signed: someone who fansubs idol stuff.
>>954334
Very true, forgot that aspect of it. Idol translators are pretty dedicated. For the rest of it, I guess everyone moved onto Korean subbing because that scene is thriving.
>>954326
hamada needs to spank some younger gen ass... really badly
>>954354
Well, Geinin is like that. NMBs aren't really comedians, so it really does look like poor practice.
Though they do get better and can get a few chuckles out of you by the third season though, thanks to Goto's tutelage.
Also, Momoka's (the girl going "do aho" in that webm) commentary in the Ripopo mahjong show currently airing is actually pretty funny by now.

ガキの使い-24時間鬼ごっこ
Is there any before that, by the way? (Haven't really looked myself though.)
>>968753
Yeah, in the beginning they where more of a infividual batsus type of program. For example they would argue about something or make a bet and the looser would have to face a batsu. There is one where Hamada looses and is forced to go to the Titanic movie set in USA, or theres also one where Yamasaki doesn´t complete one task in the show and his batsu is to go to Italy and bring some pasta to Hamada and everyone else. There are more but I dont recall all of them.

could you guys refrain from posting spoilers until team gaki has finished subbing it?
>>970389
The only this that's left is the usual scary adventure part at the end of every Batsu.
>>970279
The "behind the camera" Hamada is truly a great senpai. When Tanaka talks about the time he was a novice in the comedy business and didn't have money to even buy a pair of shoes for his comedy shows and Hamada went over to his dressing room to talk with him to see how he was doing and gave him I dont remember how much yens to buy them... I shed some tears when they talked about it.

>>972872
Thanks man. I find it very hard to get a grasp around this shows because of its foreign language.
>>973007
Honestly, Gaki no Tsukai is a lot easier to understand out here than most shows from Japan, seeing as it's mostly slapstick humor and whatnot. You don't need to get all the cultural references or inside jokes to find it funny. The best parts are them just screwing around.
>>971786
He gets paid for being a pervert. And he seems very happy.
Bastard.
>>972639
:3
Where should I start with watching the Gaki Batsus? I've seen up to part 9 of the Detective Agency now, should I go from the very start, or work backwards, or is there one I should start watching from?
>>973219
I suggest your start from the beginning, a lot of the stuff that happens builds on previous years, so it has a better impact if you've seen it in order
>>957440
Still the best one.
Anybody have some webms from the thing with Thane Camus? Game show where a class of girls had to do stuff in english

>>953998
Didn't they do something like that to Hosei, where they had him pants someone as part of a bit, then have the producers come in and say it was being broadcast live? Made him go out on Downtown and announce his retirement taking responsibility for the mistake before finally telling him it was a practical joke?
Poor bastard thought his career was over. It was hilarious.
>>958547
This is the product of a warped, warped mind. No surprise Matsumoto was in charge of this game.
>>973702
What is this show? Always funny to hear them talking English
>>973865
Also no surprise he's never had to participate in any of the subsequent ones.

>>973219
Here's what I had in my batsu folder. All of these are worth watching, except maybe the pie hell which more sad and funny.
2000: 24-Hour Tag.
2001: Haunted Hotel.
2002: No-Reaction Pie Hell.
2003: No-Laughing Hot Spring Inn.
2004: No Laughing in Yugawara.
2005: No-Laughing High School.
2006: No-Laughing Police Station. (I think the desk drawers appeared first in this?)
2007: No-Laughing Hospital. (One of the best if I recall)
2008: No-Laughing Newspaper Agency.
2009: No-Laughing Hotel Employee.
2010: No-Laughing Spy.
2011: Airport.
2012: Enthustiastic Teachers. (They kind of forgot the theme and guys don't really do any sort of teaching.)
2013: Earth Defence Force.
2014: No-Laughing Prison.
There are also some shorter batsus which
>>968892
mentioned.
There's one where Yamasaki has to spend a night in an empty building and go to play piano at the other end of the place, while the staff scares him in various ways.
Other than batsus, food-related stuff is also great, esp. Zettai Oishii (they cook from mostly weird ingredients) and Kiki Series (they try to identify the food or drink they tasted - also tobacco in part 3). And then there's Cathy Tsukamoto Cooking Show ... which is really weird but hilarious.
Oh, and 5 rangers series, 13 parts. It gets weirder and weirder.
part 10 detective batsu WHENNN
>>975477
Yes, just download the .ass or .srt file along with the video.
Is this like Korea's Running Man>?
>>975217
I heard that. Fucking sad...
So that was the reason why she retired?
>>975494
Enthusiastic Teachers is 2 themes in one year sort of, as halfway through they go Edo style. I guess they didn't have enough material for the first part. The trial at the end though is pretty amusing.
>>972601
>Akari
;_;
Momoclo was good back when she was part of it. It went downhill fast after she left.
>>975511
>So that was the reason why she retired?
She, as well as Annin, didn't attend any handshake events since the incident (whether she was forbidden to or was too traumatized to, I don't know). So after a year or so, she found some work as an actress and quit.
Annin is still in the group, though. But still not attending handshake events.
>>948526
KEK
Is this really the last one for the series?!
>>949032
OH SHIT
That was convincing.
Anyone has this with sound?
>>976055
They always say it's the last one, or that someone else should take over.
>>975508
Thanks bruv.
>>962175
No one can be expected to keep a straight face with something like that.
>>976055
If it is, it's a great one to end on. I still think they have a few good years left. They should finish in 2019, for the 30th Anniversary of Gaki no Tsukai.
>>976135
>They should finish in 2019, for the 30th Anniversary of Gaki no Tsukai.
And then pass the baton to some of the tarentos they've had as guests, like that one actor who got chinko machin'd and that one baseball player and that one SMAP member.
Or younger comedians. Though if Sagara to Kiyoto's Nogizaka PuPuPu is any indication, younger comedians suck ass. And producers run away with all the money and get shows canceled.
