You'd be in a room and you could hear wind blowing in windows, distant gun fights, you then fired a pistol and it effectively deafened you for a good 5 seconds until the sound returned (obviously super human ability to regain natural sound balance levels) but 90% games sound like true ass, 5% sound ok, 4% sound good then there's the ones that actually try like BFBC2.

I have a feeling that is because Russian military runways are not maintained very well, so they over-engineer the gear to withstand crappy surfaces. Heavy gear = lots of work to retract.
