I was wondering if anyone can be a bae and point me in the right direction... I'm really loving this startpage http://0xe4.github.io/startpages/startpage-lmwebdesign/ but the weather feature is not being supported any longer which makes it useless. I'm trying to remove the weather section basically but end up royally screwing the whole thing up. (Bonus points for taking away the search bar at the bottom).

Hey! What I did was basically go into settings on firefox (I switched to that instead of chrome because it's better/faster/smoother/cleaner looking but you can do this with chrome too):
First I put the start up page folder (if you have a zip file, unzip it) and placed the file in My Documents. After that, right click on the html file (probably called index) right click and open with notepad. There you can edit the text to put the pages you want it to display. (e.g. ctrl + f where it says "tech", change it to what you want.) example:

where # is where you paste the link and where it says dropbox you put the title of the page.
Secondly:
Now open the index.html file in your browser of choice. Copy the link in the address bar. It should be something like this:
file:///C:/Users/YOUR USER/Documents/czyrmo/edited startpage for anon/index.html
Now: Search for an extension/add on called anything like "New Tab URL" and add it to your browser, and paste the link you copied above there. I can create a screenshot step by step thing if you need, just let me know where you have troubles/which browser you're using/what start-up page you want to use, etc.

Does anyone know how to set the start pages to load when you open a new tab in Chrome? I can set them to be my homepage and they work fine there but when i open a new tab (CTRL+T) it goes back to google's default.

Font is handled in style.css at the top of the file. There should be a line with src: url('haxrcorpttf.ttf'), just change haxrcorpttf.ttf to a different font file and make sure you copy the font file to the startpage directory. I don't know anything about macs but I think that should be all you need to do.

Custom New Tab doesn't autoclear the address field by itself, at least for me. It seems to only recognize the file path as a "deleteable URL" if New Tab Override has it too. Is there a better way to do this?

i just lopped out bits of the code until the bar on the left was gone, changed the japanese words to english, etc. my fix for the banner was to put the height at like -500, so it's floating out of view now.

I pretty much hard-coded everything but I'm working on a new version that is easily configurable. In the meantime, you can follow the steps below.
In the html file, scroll all the way down to the div with id "main2". Copy this whole div and paste it below so that you have two divs in a row. Change the id to "main3" on this new div, then replace the sidebar and iframe with whatever it is you wanted to put there.
Just after the <script> section, there should be a couple of divs with ids "btn1" and "btn2". Copy btn2 to the next line and rename the id to "btn3". In the onclick section of this button, make it show main3, hide main2 and main1, tog btn3, and toh btn2 and btn1 (tog and toh are functions). You will also need to update the onclick sections of btn1 and btn2 to hide main3, and toh btn3.
I'm definitely gonna clean it up, but that should work for now.

Sometimes I do it by picking an image I like and sampling colors on it, like pic related. There are a lot of pallet websites out there also.

There are plenty of websites that can help in this department, but it's just having a good eye. If you're seriously, read up on colour theory. If not, use one of the thousands of online colour palette tools, or heavily blur and image in photoshop and pick out the most prominent colours.

Update my current startpage, there was a bug in the last one involving font-smothering when hover and I was fed up with it.
So the new one, basically a front page like in pic related, a hidden sidebar triggered by the menu icon, the favorite button leads to the middle of the page where there are several frame such as the last screenshot.

Suggest you to center the boxes and searchbar in the center of the page, it'll look less empty ! Then for the background, since you go for a 8-bit style, why no change it for a pixel background, there is a thread in the catalog, go check it (or google). I find the font a bit big, reduce the font-size, and maybe try out others 8-bit fonts which are more minimal. At last for the search bar make it a bigger by playing with the padding
