What was the exposure on that? I like the effect it's had on the clouds. I think there's too much ambient light for street lamps that bright to be in that picture though.

to determine the amount of time i had to take a photo before star trails appear i had to divide my focal length; 500/18
so each photo was taken roughly at 20-25 seconds each

Well, /p/ is a great place to start, they tell it like it is and give you constructive criticism, if your photo is shit, theyll tell you
the best tip i can give you is to take TONS of photos, seriously, go fucking bonkers, on everything. You never know what style you might prefer; street, landscape, wildlife, portraits, low-light. Go get Adobe photoshop, or Gimp, and learn on youtube how to use them.
Look up some really famous photographers, find one that sparks you in particular, and try to find why he/she interests you and why he/she is so successful. Shoot like them for a few months until you get a taste of different styles tastes.
There is no magic button to photography, itll take years to get really good and to finally come up with your own style that is unique to you.
last thing is to just have fun with it, its a hobby, not a chore. Dont worry too much about pleasing everyone on the internet with your photos, learn to please yourself with them first.
