I think that's the point... ? His training isn't even complete, and he's got major daddy issues. It's called character development. I don't think he seemed that weak, at the end when Rey kicks his ass he's already wounded, giving her an advantage. I still think Rey seems more powerful with the force, assuming she's Luke's daughter, this would make sense. Everyone in the movie could be considered whiny going by your standards. They're all dealing with some heavy shit. I for one prefer to see fictional characters portrayed as acting like normal people at least some of the time. It seems unbelievable to have one-dimensional bad guys and good guys. Kylo seemed insane to me more than anything else.

To be honest, that is the only thing that concerns me. Because once that happens, it's established rather swiftly that when it came to the force... Rey won the loto.
The only reason that I am not going to say anything on that yet is that this is a trilogy and there is more story to tell. There is a chance to make her more flawed.

No, but here's the thing... the second that her and Kylo meet. She changes... the force is a much bigger factor in their meeting and her escape. She starts getting really good with it despite barely knowing what it is, FAST! Ungoddly fast.
It there wasn't more story to tell... I would be forced to say that someone just wanted "Some cool, strong woman" for the sake of it. I think that there is more too it than that, but standing alone that is how it looks.

A theory I've read that would make sense is that Luke trained her when she was younger, but wiped her mind and left her on Jakku when he decided to go search for the Jedi Temple or something similar. If the story in any way mirrors the books, which it does kinda (although its been stated previously the latest movies aren't following the books which aren't considered canon anyhow making the whole thing a confusing nut-roll lol) Rey is the daughter of Han and Leia. When Han first meets her in the movie he doesn't know who she is, at least he doesn't show it outwardly ( I don't think he really knew who she was). Leia on the other hand has a moment of recognition and warmth upon seeing her for the first time. I'm betting she's the other Solo kid and that it was one or both of her parents decision to stick her on that dustball to keep her out of the grip of the baddies.

I want more time and attention payed to character creation and development as well, but I don't feel the same as you do concerning well, everything you've stated.
1. She's obviously very knowledgeable regarding all kinds of tech primarily spacecraft. Her knowledge is what feeds her, and I imagine that living in such a desolate shithole dreams of flying anywhere else sit at the front of her thoughts.
2. The mechanic thing. Again, food, years of scavenging, natural capacity for it (just like dear old daddy Solo?)
3. This movie is changing things most apparent of which is the force itself. I like the way it's portrayed here better than it was previously, because the force feels more present, vibrant, and alive; here the force isn't merely observed in the actions of those hero characters we're rooting for, it's almost it's own character. I'd like to say it would make more sense if she were able to wield a saber more easily than Finn did, but his indoctrination at an early age into the the baddies could easily have put him a place to train in melee combat. Maybe then Rey should have been less capable with a saber; she was on the back-foot for most of her fight with Kylo, and if anything if there's question of why she could fight him, umm the Force. Easy. "Training" in this series looks like it means bringing into focus what's already present. Maybe the force gives natural talent to moments of athleticism and action; in episode 1 punk-ass Anakin could do what no other human could do and pod race. Force. Easy.
So why is she able to battle Kylo? THE FUCKING FORCE.
4. She needs flaws, plural and deeper more meaningful ones, but to say she doesn't have a flaw at all tells me you need to watch again and this time actually observe instead of coming straight to 4chan like every other asshole to gripe like a child. And moreover was Luke Skywalker developed to any greater extent in episode 4? No, he wasn't. In fact, they're almost carbon copies of one another.

Remember though, Finn told Han that he was basically a janitor when he was stationed on that death star planet. They probably gave him standard blaster training and nothing else.
