Tried going for a black and white look since I usually do color.
Still sitting on Lollipop because Xposed for 6.0 just came out on the 14th and chances are that a lot of modules haven't been ported yet.
Five Wallpapers has also proven to be pretty buggy as of late. Appears to be an abandoned project. I don't really need it in my case fortunately.
I'll say it; I think the Samsung rice is pretty ugly. Just throwing that out there.
Still too lazy to fix my new rice. Oh well.

I'm trying to make a scrolling layout that isn't that flat material style stuff and I'm really struggling with any inspiration over the last few threads because I don't want to do any of that generic banner layout but I still want scrolling/2 pages.

You'd just put the image in the center of a 1920x1080 canvas in Photoshop or your favourite image editor. Then you'd use the colour picker tool, make a square behind the image layer and fill in the blank space/

iPhone got updated with actual support so things are looking nice again. Things to note, the bluetooth icon up in the top is dim so it's hard to see but is 9/10 times bright cause its paired with my watch/car.

Made something really simple. Didn't really know what to do with it so I just left it as this. Decided I don't really need a clock widget because the only time I check the time is if I unlock my phone and then just lock it again, it shows it there perfectly fine. If there's any suggestions on what I should do with this please let me know.

See if you can hide the navigation bar and status bar, those are usually solid starts. At least the navigation bar. The icons blend in too well in my opinion, I would either create a banner on the bottom, or find new icons. The font is also a bit too cartoony for me, but to each his own.

I guess the sharp edges of the icons and widgets don't really go well with the sketch style of the wallpaper, not sure what you could do about that though. As for the stark contrast that you're going for, I think its alright, albeit a little bland.

I'd suggest that to match up with your clock and so that you'll be able to see the Steam and Google+ icons.

Homescreen is pretty nice, but that status bar is looking outta place. If you have Xposed, try Flat Style Colored Bars and matching the status bar colour with the app dock or music widget colour.

Thoughts? My first serious attempt at making my home screen look good. Can't root my phone, so I try to work with what I had. Also, is there a way to lock widgets in place without putting them in my dock, so that I can switch pages without the widgets moving? Is there a way to "paste" widgets to my background, so to speak?

Don't know if anyone is still on thread, but I'm currently trying to use klwp and I'm having a problem with the animations. I have 3 screens and on the far left, there is a bar across screen. I want it to only be there, and when I swipe to screen 2, it's gone, but it's back on screen 3. Am I artistic or is there a specific option I need to activate for it to only be on one screen?
I don't have pic/vid because I tried to use the AndroidScreenRecorder, but it says no devices found in the cmd prompt that comes up.

Well the whole title of the threads goes back a while now, when these were started up and ran as a thread for phone wallpapers. The addition of tablets happened later. Most tablets run android or iOS though and unless its pointed out specifically just going off the screen shot its hard to tell if you are on a phone or tablet. They both rice up the same way.

I like the color choices here for the text and icons. Re-positioning the widgets on the top of the screen so they dont sit flush with top of the screen and the bottom of the black bar will make it all look a bit more consistent, but also risks it looking cluttered. Depending on how much you use/need it removing the ram and wifi parts of the top widget will help slim down the appearance.

Tablet rice is fine. I don't understand the middle bit of art of the girl with the headphones, it seems to just flash up very briefly, I assume you actually have a way for it to take up the central focus of the rice somehow, though. The icons feel too large and chunky, especially next to the thin lines on Rei. Consider adding 1px shadows to the boxes and removing the icon shadows. The blank background is boring, experiment with patterns etc. maybe?

Make sure you're centered the icons and widgets vertically in their respective boxes, don't have them hugging too close to the edges. I doubt you need all of that information there, try and find something that's worthy of taking up space on your homescreen, failing that just leave it empty or something. The art in the middle is nice but it feels a bit out of place as it's lighter than the dark boxes around it.

Change the widget and icon colours to something other than black. You have a lot of colours in the mix there so you should consider doing something more interesting with the icons. It's a waste if you leave them black.

Looks pretty good otherwise, but you might want to change the color of the progress bar on that material widget too.
In my time of absence I had a tablet die and get replaced. Made a new rice for it. Still need to fix quite a few things but this gif will get the point across.

You needed it for UCCW and zooper, but iirc klwp doesn't need media utilities. In fact last I messed with it media utilities doesn't even work on 5.0+ android so a lot of people had to jump to KLWP just for a custom music widget.
Just like with media utilities though KLWP will need to have the text/object mapped to what you want in a very specific way. Simply making a text box and typing in "song title" will not work.

The font you're using for the weather/memory is really jumbled when it comes to both text and numerical values on the same line, I'd use another font. The uneven numbers could work, they just don't here. The bottom half is pretty basic, top half just needs tweaking. The 87 is too close to the loop as well.

Yep, KLWP and Nova launcher, if you aren't using KLWP then Lightning launcher is the best standalone.

The trick is to make the actual buttons invisible with something like SoftkeyZ and have the icons be part of the wallpaper. This does mean that you don't see the icons when you're in an app but I like it that way. As for the fading colours the whole thing is only two different wallpapers that fade into each other, apart from the side panel which is a separate picture that slides in.

The whole thing is two desktops, swiping left or right activates or retracts it respectively. I like to lighten the load that KLWP has to do so the two wallpapers that it fades between, all the icons and stuff are part of the jpg and I just put invisible boxes over the icons to open each app.

Gotcha. I'm on both KLWP and Nova myself, so I'll look into the color transitions. I'm assuming you either used a color filter animation or faded in an image on bgscroll? Either way, really neat.

5/10, clock has a nice font but it seems sort of out of place. Icons are off center in the banner, and it's a pretty basic design to begin with. Personally never been a fan of banners that go in multiple directions but that's just me.

I'd stick with sans serif, personally because I think serif can be hard to pull off. Check out dafont, google fonts, etc. for fonts that catch your eye and go from there. This is really cute as a starting point, though. The icon you've got on the side right now looks super out of place, with the setup you have going you haven't allowed yourself a ton of room for icons and whatnot without it looking cluttered as fuck. If you're using KLWP or something, maybe put those sorts of elements over the moon? Not really sure.

I'd get better/more fitting icons, you've got a monochrome theme going on with the background so incorporate that into the icons. I'd also get rid of the battery meter, a round one doesn't fit with the rest, and you don't really need a settings icon there I think, either.

Ah, not sure why you changed the top, was talking about the icons. The space between the date and battery is kinda awkward, as is the comma; otherwise, it looks cleaner. But the icons still don't fit, I think.
