Dude. Why don't you guys just, like, post once? Right? We get it, you have multiple works. Specially you with 5 desktops. Like, we see that every fucking thread. Why don't you post just your latest work and the heads-up about it? So we can discuss stuff here, instead of just spamming 3, 4, 5, 6 desktops at once and then the other guys comes and "<3" and then you "oh, thank you <3" and then it turns into a fucking personal conversation whereas it was supposed to be a desktop discussion.

Lately, /w/ desktop threads turned into the same people posting the same desktops and replying the same comments.

We don't share stuff anymore. It's the same fucking shit, every fucking thread. It's like people like >>1853913 and >>1853874 turned this into their little club to hang out and do the same routine every fucking day. Not specially >>1853888 (nice trips btw) since all he does now is fucking post his desktop randomly and just faggot over /g/, whereas he used a fucking tripcode and used to faggot here.

>>1853915
>You have the problem with me posting desktops on a goddamn desktop thread?
That's like saying "muh you have problem with me murdering someone on a world where everyone dies??" This is not just about causality. Just because you can doesn't mean it's "right" or useful. And nobody gives a fuck if you use them daily or not, we already fucking know how it is.

It's like they get lucky if they manage to be one of the first to reply, because they know that every one who gets "late" will mention them in later posts, and won't mention the entire rest of the thread because they can't be arsed to reply to other 50 desktops.

Surely, because that's what it turned into after they came along, and others just followed into their footsteps. Now don't go and tell me that's not what you see every fucking thread, because it is. Surely they don't make 100% of the posters in these threads, but it makes up for a big part, and they actually contribute to this. So yeah.
>Probably just mad because his desktop isn't getting replies

You've spammed the same desktop multiple times in one thread. And you do it every thread. That's why the threads on /g/ have died, the ones on /w/ are dying and eventually, you'll all move to /wg/ (if you haven't already) and kill those.

It's not the posting of desktops. The desktops are cool. But why post the same exact desktop multiple times? If you want to post a PNG, post a PNG. If you want to post a WEBM, post a WEBM. But we don't need multiple screenshots and WEBMs of the desktops but with different windows open. And then you have the circlejerking.

>threads prior to /g/'s infestation were actually good
Fun fact, kuro actually comes from /w/ originally. And while at the time that he started ricing it was a little annoying (constantly posting, MUCH more than he does now) it was quite productive with a lot of questions being asked and answers being given. It was definitely a good time for newfags and the like. Even after his shift to /g/ he hasn't really ever shitposted (outside of /g/). When someone asks a question about one of the rices a decent answer is usually given.
The only things that have really dragged down these threads have been anons like you that are either new or come from /g/ to complain. I agree that posting multiple desktops isn't a great thing, but it isn't dragging a thread down.
That and the tripfags that used to post often have kind of moved into lurking (Although you can find a few on irc) or don't really post at all. They definitely kept threads going and productive.

I guess I'm ranting and being a bit hypocritical at this point but I think this needed to be said in some sense.
And to top it off, here's a desktop.

Why does literally no one here use iTunes? I get that it's not customisable, but I think the miniplayer is pretty sweet.

There are many reasons.
It doesn't support flac, needs to have background process running for no reason, it's a resource sucker, isn't very customizable, needs music not bought through itunes to be manually imported (no library auto-update).
Why not use foobar, or if you feel like it, ncmpcpp?

Well iTunes has never given me any major problems, but I guess it's all I've ever used. I'll have a play with some of the others and see how it goes.

It doesn't necessarily mean you should switch. If you use itunes, purchase your music through it, use apple devices, the by all means use it.
It's just that a lot of people here don't buy their music, don't use apple devices, and want to rice their music player and itunes doesn't work well within that environment.
If you're looking for nice music players (easy to rice) I would recommend foobar2000 or AIMP.

Ah yeah, meant to say reinstall. Alrighty.

Could gnome-keyring be it? I search up the org.freedesktop line and people were saying installing gnome-keyring fixed it, but they seemed to be on a wireless connection while I'm on a wired one.
>>
>>1854454
>they seemed to be on a wireless connection while I'm on a wired one
that doesn't have anything to do with it
it's worth a shot, I have it installed but it isn't listed as a dependency

sudo pacman -Syyu is updating your whole system and force re-download package list database

You probably have an invalid API key set for danbooru.
Danbooru/Moebooru based sites support authentication with your API key not password, which can be found on their site in you account settings.
You don't need to set these to use danbooru, only gelbooru requires a username and password.
I'll probably push a few changes to make this more clear to users.
>>
>>1854489
not him, danbooru just isn't working
I tried without an account and logged in with the api key and neither works
>>
>>1854490
You're right, although it works for me with authentication.
No username/pass causes danbooru to not work, it's a bug in ahoviewer.
I just pushed a fix for it.

yes, I literally copy/pasted it straight from the profile page
>>
>>1854501

I'm guessing you both have libsecret installed, and the problem lies somewhere with that.

>>
>>1854505
Yeah, "Failed to set password for Gelbooru"
>>
>>1854505
gelbooru works fine for me
danbooru logged in fine once but erased the api key when I restarted and now I can't get it to log back in

>>1854501

>>
>>1854507
>>1854506
>>1854513
If you're getting any error like >>1854432
You probably need to also install gnome-keyring.
I'm not sure what distro you're using, but on gentoo libsecret depends on gnome-keyring.
But I had a look at arch and it is listed as an optional dependency, which could cause problems if no secrets service installed.

If you don't want the headache and do not care about encrypting your passwords you can compile without libsecret support;
./bootstrap --disable-libsecret
>>
>>1854516
Installed gnome-keyring.
Everything saves now but console is saying Error while downloading posts on danbooru
"HTTP response code said error"

You can't drag down a desktop thread by posting a desktop.
You can by arguing about pointless shit and causing a thread about posting desktops be near the bump with only 39 images.

I really like this, apart from the copy paste CSS.

Something like:
#nav-bar {
bottom: 0 !important;
text-align: center !important;
position: fixed !important;
width: 100% !important;
}
You'll have to make a few adjustments if you show any toolbar buttons.
