Recently bought a SW-23000 in order to run emulators from my PC to my CRT. Will be getting in soon and wanted to know if any of you had done the same and what your experience was like.

Not really all that different from the old AVerMedia AVerKey's. It works, but the picture is a bit on the fuzzy side(don't expect to be able to read small text), and there is the occasional scanline distortion, and the occasional frame of lag. You will be able to play, but it's not that much of an improvement from using your LCD monitor, and in some ways will be worse. You'll get more enjoyment using it to send video signal from movies and tv shows to your CRT. Call me crazy, but old B/W movies just look better on CRTs.

You need a Radeon 9000 through HD 4000 series video card and crt_emudriver if you want to output RGB signals at correct resolution and sync like a real man.

CRT monitors are a bit harder to find than CRT TVs. I can find a few CRT TVs on local craigslist and whatnot, but not CRT monitors.

WTF, why would you do this? Outputting in 240p is great, trying to output in any other signal format and then downscaling it to 480i/240p looks really bad. Stick with your LCD monitor and use filters - which still look pretty shit, but you save yourself the trouble.
If you're really serious... then do as anon says (>>2926651) and check out crt_emudriver and get an SD RGB monitor. Calamity has updated it so you can now use 5000,6000 & 7000 series radeon cards too, though still in beta.

I recently bought a component cable because I wanted to emulate using my CRT with RGB quality and no lag. At the checkout there was a kid in front of me buying one of those shitty VGA to composite converters that cost 5 times as much. I chuckled at the fool as he left the store.

I use an x600 through an Audio Authority transcoder and into component input on a 24" Sanyo. Crt+Emudriver is great.

I think it might depend on area too. Where I'm at, I considered myself lucky to get a CRT after three months of looking.

Looking at ebay right now. If anyone in the Port Ludlow area in Washington state has about $100 to spend, there's a great 27 inch Toshiba with component input. I see another CRT with component input near L.A. in California. Other than that, most of the ones I see have s-video at best, and half the time you are lucky to find composite.
I just wish pawn shops and the like still sold CRT TV's, but I can't find one or a thrift store or anything like that that sells CRT TV's anymore.
