What do you guys think of Wii64?
>>3276813
its shite
what do you think about it OP?
>>3276840
Makes me feel like the wii still had so much untapped potential :,(
It's shit, but not64 is a fair bit better. It's the same emulator, just with a fuckload of speed/compatibility hacks.
Generally speaking you shouldn't use the Wii for it's N64 capabilities beyond the Virtual Console. Even that's debatable if you're a purist.
maybe the wii u homebrew scene will be better, op
actually I'm pretty sure it already is better. N64 emulation on that seems to be loads better
There isn't a single good N64 emulator, let alone one that runs on hardware as weak as the Wii.
>>3277151
i heard WAD injections work pretty well , you just replace the rom in a Wii Virtual Console release and see how it goes from there
a few people recommend Mupen for N64 emulating, but nothing beats the real thing.
>>3277374
>i heard WAD injections work pretty well
Ehhhh, the few that work at all probably work well.
http://wiki.gbatemp.net/wiki/VCInjections_Compatiblity_List#Nintendo_64
The WiiU is slightly better, but not by much it seems.

thanks for the links

It says a lot about the N64 that after all these years Nintendo still hasn't developed a internal emulator that 'just works', instead continuing to chop and change shit depending on what individual games need. If they can't do it, what hope does Mupen64 or whatever have?
But yeah, that list of 'compatible' games is shocking. An actual N64 and flashcart is a very good investment, believe me.

>It says a lot about the N64 that after all these years Nintendo still hasn't developed a internal emulator that 'just works'
it's called the actual console
and yeah i have no idea why you can't just throw any game into it, wtf Nintendo
I'm a tech-illiterate faggot, so I gotta ask, why does the Wii U's Wii Mode struggle with Wii64 but it can run GameCube games on Nintendont flawlessly?
>>3277495
>it's called the actual console
You guys are stupid.
I used to emulate and play Super Mario 64, Mario Party 2, and Diddy Kong Racing all the time on my Wii.
Played totally fine. Sometimes occasional texture glitching.
>>3276847
The best thing about the Wii wasthat it was a Gamecube.
>>3277498
Wii64 is an emulator. Nintendont is more like a virtual machine. Which means it's running software commands natively instead of being interpreted.
>>3277480
>An actual N64 and flashcart is a very good investment
It would be if there were more than 10 good games in the entire library.
>>3277515
Go and look up how much it would cost to buy said 10 games individually and get back to me on that one.
>>3276813
All N64 emulation is laughable garbage, but Wii64 takes it to a new level.
>>3277480
Didn't they develop an internal emulator for Master Quest on the Gamecube? I recall being able to inject roms into it back in the day but sites discouraged it because it was Nintendo intellectual property.
how come my wii doesn't even run old arcade games right
>>3278372
Honestly this. I've embraced emulation for NES, SNES, SMS, Genesis and many other consoles, but N64 is always lacking, requires individually configurating each ROM settings, a controller adapter because of how weird it feels playing with another pad layout and there are no filters to emulate CRT as the games barely run w/o filters. I guess we should accept at this point (14 years since the console was discontinnued) that the N64 is a system were you'd better of playing it in the actual console.
>>3277151
1964 is the only emulator that can run banjo tooie without random freezing, so that's good.
It heavily depends on the game. Check the compatability lists and if it says "runs perfect" then you might want to try it, but don't take it as representation of the actual game if you've never played the real thing before. If it says "minor gfx glitches" or some shit, run for the hills, it's probably a waste of time to even touch it.
>>3278387
I remember this but I never tried it out myself, there used to be an hacked multi-game-iso floating about that had Zelda, Mario 64, Star Fox and I think Mario Kart 64. All the games played fine but I never saw anything outside of first-party titles run on it.
>>3278423
Do you mean on Virtual Console or emulator? Emulator-wise Mame for Wii is built from an ungodly old version and is barely compatible with anything, while Final Burn Alpha sometimes needs more RAM from the Wii than it actually has. If you just want to play some smaller FBA games it's okay but Mame should be avoided, even if you do get a game running it'll only crash mid-game and piss you off.

I was using RetroArch, Mars Matrix runs fine, Ghosts n Goblins runs with messes up sound, many things simply fail to start.
Yes, user error is likely a factor.
Gonna repost my emulator list for Wii
Part 1
Genesis Plus GX
Its best to stick with the dev builds of this
First get a stable build
https://bitbucket.org/eke/genesis-plus-gx/downloads/genplus-gx-1.7.4.7z
And then get the dev build, open it and go to the "builds" folder, you'll see two dol files, rename the genplus_wii.dol too boot.dol and place it in the stable build, make sure it overwrites the stable boot.dol
https://bitbucket.org/eke/genesis-plus-gx/get/master.zip
Fce Ultra GX mod (slight improvements along with a bit of fixes and screenshots as preview image for the menu)
https://mega.nz/#!B5d1GDwD!oO8J60usqRPJdqW5meW6_igqjHyYa8BmxQWKdhCKqKo
Snes 9x GX mod (quite a bit of improvement compared to the older versions)

Part 2
Wiimednefen (Multi console emulator)
Good for Virtual Boy, Wonder Swan, PC-Engine and CD, Lynx, Neo Geo Pocket. Everything else is not as good compared to the GX emulators
https://github.com/raz0red/wii-mednafen/releases/download/0.2-pre/wiimednafen-0_2_pre.zip
for PC Engine CD games use this tutorial of how to convert ISO/WAV to ISO/OGG. It will say it wants you to use the real games when using Turborip mentioned in the tutorial, but you can mount the iso in a virtual drive and ripped them like that.
http://timewarpgamer.com/features/emulation_pc_engine_cd_on_wii.html
Alright back to emulation
Retroarch (It can be hard to use for some people, but you'll get the hang of it)
It's best to stick with the stable builds, I'm not sure what I am doing wrong but I can never get the nightly builds core to run
http://buildbot.libretro.com/stable/1.3.4/nintendo/wii/RetroArch.7z
If your planning use the neo geo core, be sure to go to the "directory" in settings and make sure its on your neo geo directory with the bios
VBA GX mod (Mostly good for GB games but GBA runs ok)
http://www.mediafire.com/download/1i1x42agbvq1dhz/VBA_GX_2.3.2.zip
Since GBA is not retro I won't post a link here but its called mGBA
a bit more on the next post

Part 3
A bit lesser known system emulators
Bluemsx-wii (Great msx emulator)
However adding games is a bit a pain in the ass so fuck it here is my game pack, Some games won't work since again its a pain to add games. You can use Wiimotes or usb keyboard (you can use a virtual keyboard with a wiimote by pointing at the screen)
http://www.mediafire.com/download/66xkipaxmb0adoo/My_BlueMSX_WII_PACK.rar
WiiXL (Atari 8-bit computer and 5200 emulator)
Its very strange how it operates and to play games on it but you'll get the hang of it. you can use wiimotes and usb keyboard. The games are in the wiixl>software (its a mess and i apologize making it a bit of a clusterfuck)
http://www.mediafire.com/download/g5hld3a8btb885n/My_WiiXL_Games.zip
Wii2600 (atari 2600 emulator)
Simple emulator just add roms and your good to go
https://github.com/raz0red/wii2600/releases/download/0.2/wii2600-0_2.zip
Wiituka (Amstrad CPC emulator)
Has a automatic startup on games, not all of them however so you need to manually start them up by using its virtual keyboard, its a bit long how to start them but a simple Google search for starting CPC games.
http://david.dantoine.org/descargas/25
and its game pack
http://wiituka.dantoine.org/downme/wiituka_dskpack.zip
this is most of them for now, I might post some more if I'm in the mood
>>3279986
Any Amiga ones?
>>3276813
In my experience it literally does not work, any attempt to boot a ROM will not start.
Will N64 emulation ever be figured out, or is the system just that convoluted?
How's SNES emulation on it? I kinda want to play Yoshi's Island.
>>3280978
Mainly feels perfect apart from the usual suspects. I prefer SNES on the original x-box though just because of the slightly bigger d-pad and the four buttons are more like on a SNES.
>Shitting on an emulator when its last stable release was nearly 5 years ago
I shiggy diggy
